Dick allows himself the smallest of smiles as Lew’s steady, open gaze tells him the first kiss won’t be their last.

Oh, this is lovely! Adding to my memories immediately.

this is quite lovely ♥ i love how easily the interaction flows between the characters -- including when roe pops up, and how you have the dynamic of winters and nixon set up just right.

Thank you so much for the lovely feedback! It's always a bit nerve-wracking writing in a new fandom, so I really appreciate it. :)

I LOVED this. I could just see Bastogne again and everything that they had to go through. We didn't see a lot of them in the first part of it so this was totally a gapfiller in my head! Loooveeeeeee. I was also thinking as I read this that I really wish that there was a film/series that explored homosexuality in the military. Obviously in the 1940s that would be totally frowned upon and men make these stories and they have to be macho and men-like (although in BoB they allowed them to show camaraderie and brotherhood beyond the bonds of war). Still. It happened that men found love in these circumstances and not just with the ladies.

And I mean, I wish that they would've shown just ONE relationship among this company that could've been an implied gay male/male relationship. Just one out of 10 hours. I don't think that they did in the Pacific either. Don't really remember though.

Thank you for the feedback, bb. I'm so glad you liked it! I always look forward to your comments on everything. xo

Yeah, it would have been nice to see one canon, textual homosexual relationship. I remember in the movie Biloxi Blues a couple of soldiers get kicked out/sent to prison when they get caught in the showers together, and the CO said the moral of the story was do unto yourself what you want to do unto others. Heh. But at least it was acknowledged that it happened.

I would kill for a movie or TV show that really explored it.
