BRB, crying

Jun 15, 2011 15:07

Norbert Leo Butz got cut off at the Tonys before he could thank the cast of Catch Me if You Can, so he made another little speech after the curtain last night, their first post-Tonys show. He touches briefly on the tragic rape and murder of his sister two years ago (they were in Seattle for the CMIYC pre-Broadway tryout at the time and went dark ( Read more... )

Seriously so sweet and lovely. Norbert saying he couldn't sleep because he didn't thank Aaron! Awwww. "I was saving the best for last!" I mean, *I* was disappointed he didn't get a chance to thank Aaron (especially since Aaron totally deserved a Tony nom, IMO), so it's nice to know that it wasn't a slight and that they're so close.

Also, wtf his sister's killer swalllowed a pencil and the trial is postponed. What a nutjob. (Although perfectly sane enough to do hard time in prison, kthx.) And poor Teresa's partner. You and your wife get raped repeatedly and stabbed, and then she dies. I just...I can't even imagine that kind of trauma and loss. How do you come back from that? Poor woman.

I know! I knew he was going to get cut off. The Tonys are surprisingly strict about their time limits. I'm so completely moved by the tears and Aaron looking like he's about to fall apart. I really don't know how they haven't just handed a Tony to that man already. But, I know Aaron will get his. He's so great. It's only a matter of time.

Right? Anything to delay the trial. I like how they mention how he's feeling suicidal as if I'm supposed to be sympathetic to that? Sorry. Thought the same thing about her partner. I can't imagine having to live through that and then experiencing the aftermath. I take a small, small amount of comfort knowing that Norbert's family is so huge and seems so close so you know that they'll support her and be with her. I hope her own family is there too for that. I also hope this damn trial gets started already.

Aaron seriously deserved a nomination for both N2N and this. But definitely only a matter of time, IMO. It really is moving to see how close they are. Bless.

I know, gosh, I feel so terrible for that the rapist/murderer is feeling suicidal. :| I really hope the partner is getting lots of support, too. The whole thing is so heartbreaking. I hope the trial will be speedy and justice will be served. Hard.

OMG just from your description of this video I'm already practically in tears. I'm so, so glad we got to talk to them and compliment their work.

(Also, I was wondering why he didn't mention the cast but figured it was the adrenaline rush even getting him through the people he did thank. Poor, guy.)

Just got home and need to shower something fierce (so yes, of course I checked my e-mail first). Saving the vid for when I'm clean.

I just can't. There are no words. :((

That was just so heartwarming and beautiful. And the way Aaron grabs Norbert and just stares at him after he says his name? You can just see the love and respect in his gaze. I just want to make them both chicken soup and cuddle with them.

If you need me, I'll just be over here, re-watching this and sobbing (and secretly hoping for a high kick, because I can't get enough of them!).

Isn't it lovely? You can really see how much they love each other. I'm so glad they filmed this. I adore them both so much.

There will never be enough Tveit high kicks. Gah, we need to go back to NYC and see our shows again!!

Awww, thank you so much for this! I'm irrationally judgmental when it comes to acceptance speeches and was so disappointed when he didn't thank Aaron, so this makes up for it a thousand times over.

He totally saved the best for last this time, like, physically refusing to thank him until absolutely last and best and for as long as it took. And OMG the way he grabbed Aaron's sleeve and gripped it and hung on, awww. And then telling him not to cry or HE would cry *sniffle*

We know that Aaron has to be disappointed at being passed over again, but it's so great to know how generous and supportive he's been of NLB throughout the entire journey.

BE MORE CLASSY, BOYS XOXOXO

I was really disappointed too, but this definitely makes up for it! So touching. I've watched it a couple times and it makes me cry every time! They're both just lovely.
