Even though it was all on him--and his terrible, self-indulgent program, what was with those hip swivels?--I'd like to think it was karmic payback for him mouthing off about the importance of the quad.I do enjoy some karma. Lord, those hip swivels. "Self-indulgent" is the perfect word for that program. Ugh, I just can't stand his skating. Now he can go away, kthx ( ... )

The worst thing is that Stephane missed the bronze by .51 points. I was so sad when I saw that.

And I agree - Johnny was seriously underscored.

I know, so sad for Stephane. Although I am happy for Daisuke, and I think he did deserve that medal. I love them both!

I know Johnny's program wasn't as hard, but I still feel like he deserved more. Yeah, would love to see the sheet.

If Plushenko had won...I don't know. His programs are NOT. AMAZING. Also, he's the jerkiest jerk who ever jerked (his post-skate interview was UNBELIEVABLE).

EVAN!!! (!!!!)

Dear Evgeni:

TAKE YOUR QUAD AND SHOVE IT!

Kisses!

That interview was hilarious! He's such a pompous ass about the quad. He just never shuts up about it! Unbelievable. Dude, there is more to skating, as has been proven in this competition.

Seriously, his programs are not great! Also, the "new" scoring system has been around for years now and people need to get over the old system. The new system is so much fairer. Not perfect, but such an improvement. 6.0 is dead. Let it go!

Guess who won gold? NOT PLUSHENKO. Sorry, had to let that out.

I big WORD to your whole post. I really thought they underscored Johnny (I thought he should have been ahead of Patrick and while I think the new scoring system is a lot more fair than the 6.0 system, I don't get it sometimes), was bored during Evan's skate but am glad he beat Plushenko. Bonus: we got to see Shen/Zhao backstage with him! That made me happy for some reason, lol.

I adore Takahiko Kozuka. He won me over in the short, really enjoyed his long and I can't wait to see him skate the future.

Btw, where do you get your images from? I usually just go to yahoo news images but they're nowhere as HQ as yours.

I agree, Johnny should have been ahead of Patrick. And can't wait to see more of Kozuka!

I get pictures from a couple of sites:

Usually on ESPN they'd be here:

And, seriously, Plushenko's post skate interview wasn't where he ended with his CRAP about the quad. (and, dude, given how much these judges CLEARLY wanted to give him the victory - SAME PROGRAM COMPONENT SCORES AS EVAN? PUH-LEEZE - if he'd had more solid landings, he would have won!)

"Maybe I think we need to change the system, judging system," Plushenko said. "Because quad is quad. If Olympic champion doesn't know how to jump quad … I don't know. Now it's not men's figure skating. It's dancing. That's my point." (source)

Sore loser, much? *rolls eyes*

But, yes, seriously, YAY! Evan. I just saw that link, though, and right now my Plushenko-annoyance is overcoming pretty much everything else. I'll have to rewatch Evan's skate to get the happiness back later.

Hee. I understand the extreme Plushenko annoyance, believe me! Yay for Evan. He really worked hard for it and delivered.

I read a football column weekly on SI.com, and they had a special Olympics section this week.

... And Plushenko was named "Dillweed of the Week."

*shrugs* I was amused. And glad that others outside of the figure skating "world" can see Plushenko's comments for what they were.

But, dude, in more topical news, how AWESOME have Virtue and Moir been? WOW! (I totally confess to cheering for Belbin/Agosto or Davis/White, but ANYONE who can beat the Russians ... again ... totally make me smile. And they're super exciting to watch! :)
