Kids in NYC: A Rant

Apr 19, 2011 22:15

My spring break began last Friday, so I went down to New York for a couple of days. For the most part this had its usual salubrious effect on my psyche. I always note the constant change in the city, and every time I'm back I see thing slipping away. But there was one thing I particularly noticed: there are children EVERYWHERE. It really began ( Read more... )

The world is NOT one ginormous playground! maxauburn April 20 2011, 03:28:38 UTC
I understand, believe me, I do.

I live in a crappy neighborhood where the parents push the kids out the door, happy to be rid of the little creeps, who then go about the neighborhood, breaking the property of others, harrassing adults, (Usually me.) and making a hell of a lot of noise screaming and blowing whistles, banging on things, etc, as they do this.

These kids make my life miserable all summer with their noise. Sometimes, they'll yell up to my window and call me "Faggot." I am beyond tired of this. I have a right to a pleasant life!

So many parents just don't know how/or don't care at all about being proper parents.

I'll bet that these same irresponsible parents are the first ones to bitch about other people's kids!

There's way too many people in this world. Half of the kids born are because the dude forgot to put on a condom. What's needed is a National Masturbation Movement, to educate all men, gay and straight, on the joys of self-love.

I've had it up to *here* with free-ranging brats and their self-absorbed parents. Just because you copulated and pushed into this world some manner of offspring does not give you carte blanche allowances to make every space your own romper room without regard for anyone else in it.What is surprising is the amount of leeway people seem to give obnoxious families compared to when I was growing up. It does not help that the pandering by stores and such seems to encourage it. I mean, special parking for parents with children? Giant, awkward shopping carts with built-in playspaces that inevitably block already crowded aisles. I can see the benefits, but also the unneeded sacrifices by the greater whole. People have been giving birth and raising young for millions of years, it's not that big a deal. But the self-centered play it up for all it's worth ( ... )

Y'know, those "Families with Small Children" parking signs aren't in the MUTCD. I've looked. Ergo, I feel no qualm about disregarding them.
