The first picture is really quite interesting with lovely light and suggestion/impression of a scene rather than trying to be realistic. The second picture, less so (though it's plainly far from finished).
Acrylics and watercolours really do not behave in the same way, but I think you've already learned that. You'll probably find it a lot cheaper to practice/experiment on paper rather than canvas. As with anything, the quality of your tools and materials will affect the quality of your end result. That doesn't mean you should immediately buy top of the range stuff, but you'll certainly enjoy learning the art better with brushes that don't disintegrate as you use them!
i realy am finding inspiriation in the work of Bob Ross, whos television program teacher oil painting i used to watch a lot in the 90s.
He had an excepssion that painting was about finding a series of "happy accidents" and i'm certainly finding that to be true.
OIne such accident comes from the cheap brushes. while painting the trees brissles have come off and adhered themselves to the canvas. in the flesh and from a slight distance, this gives the effect of wooden sticks and branches.
Not what i had planned, but a happy accident none the less.
