Like that alleged "sex expert" that was on Fox News (or maybe it was CNN, can't remember...) who described Barack and Michelle Obama's fist-bumping as "fisting"?
Yeah... I've been following that. It's not the grassroots movement they'd like it to look like. They have also royally screwed up PR, causing a serious case of the giggles throughout the world.
Well, actually, I think they are. I basically agree with their platform 100%. They have the distinction of being the only party to be honest on the subject of the ongoing vancouver drug wars, and come right out and say that as long as we have prohibtion, you'll have organized crime around drugs.
But it's like they don't understand how our electoral system works. And it's not even as ambiguous as Nader in the 2000 election. At least you could make the argument that Nader voters would've otherwise have stayed at home on election day. Whereas the Green party very definitively siphons off voters from left-of-center parties. People voting green provincially in BC would be virtually guaranteed to vote NDP if the green party didn't exist.
That said, we do have a referendum on Single-Transferable-Voting this year. Need 60% to get it, and 4 years ago the vote was 58% for it.
