I'm on insulin and counting carbs. I don't know how many she would consider "low"...how many are they telling you to cut to?

45 per meal. 3 times a day, with no snacking. If I have to snack, keep it 'free'.

Yeah, that sucks.

I have 45-50 at meals and 3 15-20 carb snacks and somedays I don't reach my carb target and others I've blown past it.

Hugs.

A second opinion isn't the worst thing in the world.

Find another doctor, or educate yours. Check out the studies by Dr. Charles Glueck, who is in Cincinnati OH and one of the best PCOS researchers around-he's actually coordinating a registry tracking development of babies born to mothers with PCOS who remained on Metformin through their entire pregnancies. And please provide me with your e-mail address ASAP-I will make sure to forward you an e-mail with a large set of studies on the safety of Met during pregnancy, including one from August of last year that concludes that it helps reduce the risk of GD without an increased risk of birth defects. My OB had been concerned about taking it beyond the first trimester when I first got pregnant last summer...I shared the research I'll send to you and he has actually changed his protocol for managing pregnant patients with PCOS. I'm now 41 weeks, my weight has been spectacular through the pregnancy (I'll end this pregnancy any day now when the baby arrives probably at a lower weight than I started it and not because I was actively dieting ( ... )
