Adult appropriate. That depends on the culture and society you grow up in. Adult appropriate is so incredibly vague.

'You didn't need'. You might want to rethink that phrasing. If you're doing it for his sake, you're doing it for his sake. Just because a situation is uncomfortable for you to deal with with your brother, doesn't automatically mean that it should be filtered. If it's for your sake, specifiy that. Don't use your brother as an excuse.

It's entirely for his sake. He's a kid, and he doesn't know a lot of this stuff. And I'd prefer he didn't until he was older. It has nothing to do with myself - I'm a grown man and can handle it.
