Hello, miss, and welcome to the City. My name is Emma Woodhouse. How may I assist you?

Of course. But first --

[She hands Meg a cute little bag, with a copy of the City guide, some maps, and some money.]

A welcome basket of sorts.

[Meg hesitates a second before taking the cutesy bag, looking inside. The only thing that looked remotely recognizable was a map and...was that money? The guide, however, was foreign to her. Ancient Greece was not exactly the kind of place one would find paper products.

She picks up a coin, examines it, and then drops it back in. She forces a smile, still not digging this change of scenery. A cute gift bag wasn't helping.]

Thanks.

You are quite welcome. Now, if you will follow me, I will show you to the Welcome Center.

[She gestures for Meg to follow.]

Where are you from?

[Meg slips her device into the bag to keep at least one hand free, and follows Emma to wherever the heck that Welcome Center is located. She just wanted to get this done and over with.]

Thebes. I wish I could say it was a nice place and that I miss it, but honestly Thebes is like a festering cesspool in Greece.

But, it was getting a little bit more tolerable, but still, home sweet home isn't in my vocabulary.

[She wonders if she should as Emma the same question. After all, small talk was fine. It would keep her from getting stir crazy.]

And...you're from someplace else?

I am from Hertfordshire. England, in the early 1800's. I suppose I should mention that we have people from all different time periods here.

[Emma glances at Meg's clothes.]

You are ancient Greece, I presume?

...never heard of it.

[She'd ask about how that was possible, having all these people from different times in the same place, but. Well. She was a prime example of one.

She'd rather not press.]

Well, it's not ancient to me.

Of course.

[They reach the Welcome Center, and Emma opens the door.]

Welcome to the Welcome Center.

[Meg looks over the Welcome Center, eyeballing how strange the building looks in comparison to the sorts of structures she was used to back at home.

Heck, all the buildings here look different. She enters, a cautious part of her hoping that this isn't some sort of trap.]

That was a bit redundant.

[Emma has decided that she does not particularly like this Megara person. But that does not mean she cannot be polite.]

Are you hungry? I can get you something to eat.

[Sorry Emma, Meg pretty much just died after betraying the guy she loved, and getting crushed by a column was anything but fun. That, plus being in a weird place talking to a weirdly dressed woman does not make Meg a happy camper.

She's trying her best though.

And does food even matter now that she's dead? Whatever, she wasn't about to pass up a free meal.]

Well, I'm not starving but I could go for something to eat, I guess.

We do not have much at the moment, but I could assemble a sandwich. Would ham and cheese suit?

I could go for either but...yeah, mind telling me what a sandwich is?

[Emma is an educated woman. But there are certain things that never occur to you. Sandwiches were something she thought existed through all ages.]

You have never had a sandwich before?

Honey, I don't even know what it is. How could I have had one?

You simply put meat and cheese between two slices of bread. You truly had no such food in Greece?
