Over on Making Light, Patrick has a Voting-and-nervous-energy thread. This is sort of mine.

Patrick also posted in the "Sidelights" section a link to the "Yes we can (hold babies)" blog ("It's like Cute Overload crossed with Daily Kos"). For some reason :-) this was my favorite picture there:

It also confuses some of us British, because we standardised on red=Labour, blue=Conservative a long time earlier, for obvious reasons (the Labour party's official anthem is "The Red Flag").

Speaking of confusing, the clock key on that map is backward. It should go the other way round.

I agree about the clocks being "backward".

As for the red/blue thing, we already have tons (literally -- have you *seen* Rush Limbaugh?) of right-wingers accusing all Democrats of being Communists. No need to fuel their bizarre notions of what "liberal" means.

Depends on which definition of Boomer you use. I was born two years before Obama, and I consider myself on the cusp, not really a Boomer, not really an Xer. Some articles on the subject call me one, some call me the other -- but you know, I really don't fit in either.

And nice as that map is, it would have been really simple to make it so those of us in other time zones could just click on it to get the times in our zones, thanks (speaking as an often-ignored west coaster -- the Weather Channel in particular thinks West Coast=California, which is just ugly of them). Yes, I can subtract three. But it's the principle of the thing.

Er, sorry about the rant...
