I do not know the rationale for tonight's selection of Mr. Musto, but I have to tell you, the NYC LGBT Community Center is a bastion of activism, solidarity and forward thinking for the LGBTQ Community. Just Monday night the Center hosted two Assistant Secretaries from HUD, with support from our Mayor, our New York City Council Speaker and City Council Members, and our Senators Shumer and Killebrand for a Stakeholder's meeting to discuss HUD's Historic 1st ever study on LGBTQ discrimination in the rental and purchase money markets. The NYC LGBT Community Center enjoys an extraordinary reputation, well deserved, and our support. Mr. Musto? Not so sure. But just like I subscribe to Hannity's Heritage Foundation newsletter, I need to know the opposing viewpoints, and the NYC LGBT Community Center is providing that. As an attorney, I ALWAYS prep the other guy's case, and then try my own. Here, the NYC LGBT is arming us with INFORMATION. That is NEVER a bad thing

The NYC Bisexual Community is a long time participant in and supporter of the LGBT Community Services Center (even if it did take a major and acrimonious fight that lasted until *cough* 2000 *cough* for them to add the "B" and the "T" to their name). A bisexual group was one of the first regular tenants after it opened way back in the 1980's, a number of bisexual, fluid, pansexual and queer-identified groups and events continue on it's roster and bi-identified LGBT people have both volunteered and worked there throughout its history.
That is why we were shocked to see an event "Celebrating" someone like Musto being so heavily promoted. And we were further distressed when we called to inquire about it by the dismissive and smirking response many concerned bi-identified and bi-friendly Community Center members were greeted with.
This was NOT an appropriate person for such and important community institution to be lauding, however mistakes do happen. What is decidedly NOT correct it for an institution that is the decades long "

One Can't Be Too Surprised . . .

One can't be too surprised of this since the LGBT Center in NYC is not one of the most progressive in the nation, with many closets still awaiting opening up. The position of Bi groups must be still quite precarious in there, since they seem to tiptoe around issues instead of mustering the courage to take them on. This to me reads as if the Center does not really reflect the base or the diversity of LGBTTQ-Poly communities, the different kinds of people that inhabit them but just the glibness of the big apple, queer style, with all-out urban gay men running the scene. It's such a pity! The way I've encountered this is by the perverse sabotage of my voice in the scene, which has been silenced, in one way or another, even though, as myself and many others firmly believe, I have a significant contribution to make

Ugh, Musto. I wish Keith Olbermann would quit having him as featured comedian occasionally on his show too. Besides, Christian Finnegan is much funnier.
