Hide and Seek

Somewhere in the deep
Dark woods
Benny's father stands
Trying to make his son
Stand firm,
Maintain the Right
And be a man.

Six years' old,
Still heart numb,
He wants his Daddy,
He wants his Mom.

All his kindling is to hand,
And he's been told how to do it,
But he knows that he can't
Ask for help
Because he's stupid,
So so stupid.

I know! I always found that little story heart wrenching. What on earth was Bob thinking, leaving Benny by himself to set the fire? I know he was obviously keeping an eye on him to keep him safe, but still! Even if Benny wasn't traumatised, that must have still been a terrifying experience. Given that he was six at the time, and we know he lost his mother at that age, what are the chances the madder of the two Frasers (Bob, in my opinion) did this after Caroline's death

Exactly... for example, what if Fraser one day just cracks and decides that he can't put on the Mountie mask one more day? I'm not suggesting he'd go on a crime spree (though that would be fun) but there must be an alternative universe where he went off the rails.

Ha, you know I just realised, your last comment is the one which really pushed me over the edge and got me working on "in a nutshell"? Thankyou! I'd been thinking of branching out and being more adventurous when I saw what you and Erin were doing with Arch to the Sky, but it's weird how things work out... it's like you two have been nudging me over my comfort zone. It's quite exciting!
