JD is currently in the cupboards of the cafeteria. There's a box on the ground next to him filled with forks.

One wouldn't think there'd be this many forks in one kitchen, but apparently they are overstocked on silverware.

He keeps coming across more forks on his search for the other materials he needs. Namely a box of spaghetti noodles, Prego

Nate had just come to get food. But he gets a bit sidetracked by the collecting of forks, and so he just watches JD for a while, quietly thoughtful.

"So... you're either gathering supplies for some sort of weird modern art, or... Yeah, that's all I've got."

Nate considers that for a minute, and then nods slowly.

"I almost wish that didn't make as much sense as it does. Still. The lack of forks seems a little unnecessary. Cute. But unnecessary. And a little messy."

JD frowns and then has messy images in his head of people trying to eat spaghetti without forks.

Not nearly as cute as when the Lady and the Tramp do it.

"Yeah. I think you're right. I guess it's just cute if you're a dog and you have to eat your food without hands anyway."

Nate nods slowly with a "yeah, told you so" expression. It's a little scary how well he can convey that with just his expression, but then, he's got a very expressive face.

"Exactly. Forks might be good. Other than that, it's not a bad plan."

JD grins at that, cause it's not often that people call his plans 'not bad'.

"Thanks! Course now I just have to figure out how to get them all here in the first place and to keep other people from walking in on them." Although, he's probably alerted a good portion of the basement to the OT3's presence tonight alone.

"Getting them in here could be a problem," Nate says, frowning a little. "I mean, I don't know the other two, but Martha tends to be kinda... busy. If you need someone big and imposing to stand casually outside the door and keep anyone from going in, though..."

Alright, Nate's not that big compared to some other people. But he does have that whole "could totally beat your ass if he wanted to" thing going on.

"They all are either busy or have really good hiding places, because it's like... sighting for whales or dolphins on a cruise."

JD has lame comparisons.

He blinks. "Oh, wait, do you mean you?"

JD tends to miss those whole 'could totally beat your ass' things, unless there's a fist aimed at his face. He really fails at seeing potential danger. It's a wonder he's stayed alive so long.

Nate gets a slightly offended look on his face. He likes to think of himself as kind of badass, at least.

"Yes, I mean me. Who'd you think I was talking about?" He's actually a lot more sulky than anything else.

"Uhm. I dunno. I just didn't think- you... uh, I mean, when you said big and strong, I just thought-"

JD scratches the back of his head and shrugs.

"I think of ya know. Someone who looks a lot more like a bouncer than you do. Nothing wrong with that though. Why would you want to look scary, y'know?"

"I dunno. I am scary! ...Maybe it's just because my brother's scared of me." Because Mat knows from experience that Nate can beat his ass.

...No, he's really got no good reason to want to be scary. He just likes to think he is. Not, you know, a lot. Just a little bit.

JD blinks.

"Uh. Sorry to break it to you, but you're really not scary." He tilts his head to the side. "But I totally get the finding your brother scary even when they're really not. Dan was a big bully, but y'know, no one else is scared of him."

Nate considers that for a second, then sighs. Oh, fine.

"That's a little disappointing." He doesn't sound all that disappointed, really. "Still, I guess there are worse things you could think of me than that I'm not scary."

JD bounces on his feet and smiles, eyebrows raised.

"Like what?"

Yes, he's honestly curious.

Nate blinks, looking momentarily lost. He hadn't expected that to be questioned.

"Oh, you expected me to actually... know those things? 'Cause... I didn't really have anything in mind. I was just saying... in general..."

Okay, he's feeling stupid now.

JD laughs and shakes his head.

"Nah, it's okay. I ask weird questions." And is just weird in general. "So, because you're willing to help with my... master plan? You're now officially in the OT3 club. Just so you know."

He smiles, all pleased with himself. "And yeah, there's not a lot of choice in the matter."

"Is it really a club if people don't have a choice whether they join?"

Not that he's arguing. He's just asking out of curiosity. Yeah, he's figured out that JD is very weird and has decided to just move on.
