He doesn't know what time it is, can't remember how long he's been here or how long he's been awake. The sun rose, he knows that and it's still early in the morning. The birds are singing and there's lot of traffic. It's not been very long since they found him though, since they started teasing and taunting him. He knows that much

Dani keeps her gaze trailed on the biggest of the group as he takes off in a direction different from the others, gun still balanced carefully on her shoulder. Once she's certain they're all gone and not coming back, she slowly lowers her weapon, then drops onto her knees beside the injured man.
"Hey." Her voice is quiet, gentle. "They're gone. It's okay."

"It... what, the car? Um. I call it Sawyer when I'm upset. It doesn't like to start sometimes, so..." She trails off, feeling a little silly. She's never told anyone that before, but he did ask.
And she really hopes that's what he meant, otherwise she'll feel really foolish.

He looks out the window, not saying anything for a moment. "There was a ship. She was a good ship and we traveled in her. Her name is in the book. She was such a good ship, a good person. She sang to me."
He turns to look at Danielle again. "It's just a car, right? Twenty first century, nothing like her exists yet." he smiles a little sadly.

"Just a car," she confirms, glancing at him. "What kind of ship? Sea? Air? Or space?"
Dani's money is on space.

He looks at her and smiles. "She liked being a tree. Or a cabinet. There used to be another one, a blue one. Always a blue box alwaysalwaysalways but that was--"
He falters, blinking and biting his lip. "Long time a ago. Longlonglong. Different lifetime, different person."

"I see," she says, voice cracking.
And she says no more but continues to look at him until a car horn from behind breaks her out of her trance.

His fingers play with the pages of his book, thumbing them as he considers looking inside, pulling his name out for her but he waits. he can do it in the house where he can write her down, keep her in his book and remember who she is. She deserves that much, for everything she's doing.

Different lifetime, different person.
It sounds a lot like her own life, and later she might draw the parallel between his name issues and her own. Not Faraday, she thinks. Hawking. Widmore. Never Faraday.
She's silent for the rest of the drive, which doesn't take long. Roughly twenty minutes later-with traffic-she pulls onto a sparsely populated street and into the driveway of a large house with a high, wired fence around the backyard. There are bushes lining the front and a few leaves on the lawn from neighboring trees.
As she kills the engine, a thought occurs to her. "So, um. It's kind of messy inside, and... you're gonna see some writing. Kind of... everywhere. It's not all mine. You can just ignore it."

The car stops though and it takes him a moment ot rile himself out of his stupor. "It's all right," he assures. "it's all right. There were words where I lived. I put them there. I wrote so I would remember. Wrote everything down to keep them somewhere safe." He smiles and touches his book. "I put them in here and on the walls and under the table where I* slept. I put them everywhere."

"Are you steady enough to get out on your own? Or... I can come around the side."

"Just...The world is still moving, still spinningspinningspinning. Have to wait for everything else to stop." He still feels like he's moving in the car. Once that feeling goes away, he'll be good but he just needs a second.

Taking a breath, he blinks, reaching out and taking her hand. She may get leaned on as they walk into the house but he'll try not to, he'll attempt to do it on his own. Because he should, because no one should have to hold him up.

Never let it be said that she isn't accommodating.
Theta may notice that the deadbolt lock on the front door has a little extension under it. Dani sticks her index finger under and against it, and the small green light atop it turns green. Only then does she insert the proper key in and open the door.
TECHNOLOGY IS AWESOME.
"The shower's down the hall to your left," she says, leading him inside. "There are clean towels you can use and I'll get you some clothes to change into. And, uh. What do you eat? I don't have much, but I can probably make... something."

And she hopes he's okay.
When she finds him standing in the hallway, a bit of tension releases from her shoulders. "Oh," she says, and blinks. "Hey. Are you hungry yet? I have enough to whip up a sandwich or two for you, if you like turkey. So I can... do that."
