Lots of people seem to be in Grant Park right now.
Neal and Elizabeth are settled in an open area, Neal paining her. He's been doing this all day, painting people but he wound up talking her into it when things were going slow

Castiel loves Grant Park.
Really. It's his favorite place. It's almost exactly like his favorite realm in Heaven, and it's why he comes there so often. Well, that, and there's lots of room for Gabriel to run around. Despite having everything in the world a dog could need, Castiel doesn't exactly use most of it. He could always find Gabriel whenever he needs to, therefore he doesn't need the leash.
The dog is collared, however, just in case.
Regardless, Neal and El will see Gabriel before they see Castiel, who is wandering over to say hi and sniff at Neal and Elizabeth's shoes.
I am just going to do them together. Because I can.smileforalivingSeptember 13 2011, 23:30:35 UTC
Neal looks down at the dog as it starts snuffling at his shoes, blinking and setting the brush aside for a moment.
"Hey there," he says, grinning down at the dog.
Elizabeth smiles wide, moving from her spot on the bench (Neal would bother commenting but he was almost done anyway).
"Hey sweetheart," she crouches down to pet the dog. "You shouldn't be out here on your own."
"He has a collar," Neal points out. "He probably just got away from his owner."
Elizabeth nods, taking hold of Gabriel's collar and leading him back to the bench. "We can wait a few minutes and see if they show up. If not, we start looking. We can't just leave this guy to roam around on his own."
Fortunately for them, Castiel doesn't appear the way he usually does. Instead of appearing out of nowhere, he walks, which may not seem like a large difference, but for most people it is.
By the time he arrives, however, Gabriel has decided that El is his new favorite person, and is sitting very patiently next to her, soaking up whatever attention she's willing to give. And it seems as though there's a lot of it.
"Hello." He's not sure what to say beyond that, but it's always a good place to start.
Elizabeth is giving plenty of affection to Gabriel. He's sweet and soft and god, she's missed Satchmo more than she can say, so having a do under her hands is kind of amazing.
Neal, being very aware of how much she's kind of enjoying the moment, has si8mply stepped back and let her love on the dog. Since it doesn't look like they're going to be getting one of their own any time soon, it seems only right.
B8ut the Castiel shows up and both o them are looking at him with curiosity.
"Hi there," Neal greets with a charming smile. "This doesn't happen to be your dog, does it?"
Elizabeth smiles as well, her hand still remaining on him. "I hope you don't mind," she says with a laugh. "He came over and we just wanted to keep him safe."
Damon is going to sneak up on Aurora, but she can feel free to stab him because it would not kill him and it would serve him right. Just sayin.
He's incredibly fast like blink and he's gone or blink and he's there fast. It comes with the whole being a vampire thing. It's not actually Aurora that he is trying to sneak up on, but he was following someone.
He was following someone that he thought was suspicious for a few reasons. If they could be part of the group that wants to destroy Chicago, he wants to know and he might want to kill them before giving them the chance to do anything. He's lost sight of them somehow so now he's on edge, rushing up through the park and trying to find them again.
She feels someone moving and it makes her even more tense, she knows that there's someone moving around her and she waits until she's swure she can take a good shot.
And then she does.
Whether it hits him or not is up for debate but she definitely made a good effort and while her fae magic may be gone, her instincts are not.
She'll apologize if she did stab him. It wasn't who she was going for at all but only when she knows that he's something worth apologizing to.
The narration is mean and feels Damon has not been injured enough. His body heals itself so it's not like it's a big deal if he is, but he's kind of a jackass so he deserves a good knife to the gut.
Every now and then.
Damon winces, making a pained noise. He is about to reach out to snap her neck when he realizes who it is.
Elizabeth is very happy to see Millie. She does not go outside of her apartment much anymore, trying to push off the inevitable insanity that's slowly creeping up on her. There's a crack spreading out through her brain, and she can feel it.
She feels it all the time now.
It never really goes away but it quiets depending on who she's near.
She is happy to see Millie though. She wanted to talk to her when she was more stable, to say thanks. "Millie," Elizabeth says, waving a hand and walking over to her to give her a tight hug. "Hi."
"Elizabeth!" She smiles broadly, wrapping her arms around the girl and giving her a tight hug. Pulling away for just a second, she leaves a kiss on each of her cheeks before h8ugging her again.
"Oh, it's good to see you sweetie, it really is."
She knows she's breaking, cracking, starting to shatter but it's good to see her all the same, to hold her, to know that, for the moment, she's put together enough to be outside in the sun.
Elizabeth grins back at her, hugging her just as tight before she pulls back. It is very, very good to see her, and it is even better to be out in the sun where it's warm. Warm-ish, it's fall after all.
"It's really good to see you too."
She pulls back, smile still tugging at her lips a bit as she rests back on her heels.
"I wanted to tell you... Thank you. For the other night and everything. I don't know what would have happened without you." Well, she does. They both do, but Elizabeth doesn't want to put it to words. She's not ready for that yet.
"Oh sweetie," Millie says, leaning in to places a kiss against Elizabeth's hair. "It was nothing at all. Don't you think twice on it." She smiles wide.
"You look like you're doin' a little better. That's good." She knows it's not perfect of course, that Elizabeth will never be truly 'better' but she'll take this, she'll tke the girl being able to go out into the sun.
"Hey, I got some great chocolate chip cookies in here somewhere. You wanna split one with me?"
Cassie passed Spencer on the way into the cafeteria. She paused to see just what he was doing before heading off in search of tea.. and to get him coffee. Because he looked like he needed one.
She has papers of her own, tucked carefully under her arm. She set homework over the weekend in a bid to find out more about her students and their tastes in music. And she's actually really excited about marking them.
Making a tea for herself and a coffee for Spencer, she heads back over and cheerily puts it down on the table, careful not to get any on his notes. She presses a gentle kiss of hello to his temple, because she can, and goes to sit down.
"Hey," she says with a grin, "What'cha doing?" gesturing at the array of notes and books.
He lo9oks up at her smiling, then he looks at the coffee and smiles even more. "You are wonderful." he confesses as he reaches for the drini, taking a long gulp. "Thanks."
Looking around at the papers, he laughs. "I'm trying to put some order to my notes on the Rift. I've been taking them ever since i got here but someone wants to take a look at them and I...sort of let them get a little out of order." He laughs.
"What about you," he gestures to the pages under Cassie's arm.
Cassie smiles sheepishly, "I do try," she says modestly with a shake of her head, "You're welcome,"
She tilts her head to the side, frowning slightly, "... I didn't know people actually did research and stuff on the Rift," she says, "What sort of things do you write about on it?"
And then with a gleeful smile, she raises her papers and shows him, "Homework!" she says excited, "Like, actual homework from my students! I asked them to write a small essay on musical influences. Like, what music inspires you and why? That sort of thing? So I can get to know my students a little better,"
Cassie giggles, "I'm actually excited to mark them,"
"Anything I can get my hands on, really. Any activity reported, where common Rift sites are, what effects it seems to have on the residents of Chicago. Anything." He shrugs. "It just seems like t could come in useful at one point or another. I'll admit it hasn't yet but..." He shrugs a little. Keeping note on the rift is something to do, it makes him feel proactive and he's not really going to stop any time soon.
He watches her glee and laughs. "You know, I'm pretty sure most people don't get that excited over homework, even if you are a teacher." But he's not going to stop her from being happy. Far from it. In fact, he's going to encourage her to settle in and start right here with him.
If you give me a second to rearrange some stuff, I can make some room for you to spread out. I have pens and everything here too, in case you don't have one."
Dylan is not sneaking up on her, per se. But she is lurking. In the trees. Well, one tree.
She was just minding her own business. Being in her tree. Enjoying the quiet. She's... trying not to think about hunting right now. She doesn't need it and she's trying to just... be calm.
And then she heard Aurora on the prowl. She's spent a while watching her from her branch, eyes narrowed. She likes Aurora.. but she doesn't. Because she's mean. She pushes her buttons and she doesn't like that.
"N-nothing's here, you know," she tells her flatly. "I've.. I've been here for ages,"
Aurora hisse3s and her knife almost flies through the air at Dylan but at the last moment, she stops herself.
Looking up at the girl, she studies her before approaching the bottom of the tree. "I thought not," she says with a saddened look on her face. "But Iit never hurts to check."
She's looking for a hunt, for something to hurt, for something to attack but she'[ll go with conversation for now. It's someth8ing to distract her at the very least.
Dylan barely moves, but tenses up - ready to leap from the tree if she has to. She'd prefer not to be in the way of flying knives today, thank you very much. She watches for a few moments, eyeing up the knife before settling again on her branch.
"No," she says with a shrug, "Don't feel bad about it, there'll.. like, be something, at some point. It's Chicago,"
She smiles, twirling the knife in her hands. "it's from home," she informs. "A gift from a good friend. I never go anywhere without it."
To had given her the knife a long time ago, years and years. She'd gotten it specially made for her and Aurora fell in love with it instantly. She brought it with her anywhere she went, even though she had little use for it in the mortal world after a while.
Still, it came with her nonetheless and now it seems that it's coming in quite handy once more.
