There are things Parker knows about herself and who she is. There are things she understands about who she is and why she is, and all the same there are things she doesn't understand. She doesn't understand the new conflicting emotions that seem to churn through her now. It's new and foreign, and she thinks it would be a lot easier if she didn't ( Read more... )

Neal has, for the last couple of days, been on a steady diet of very little but coffee and very little sleep. He is fully aware that his life choices are, at best, questionable right now, but he is too simultaneously tired and twitchy to actually care ( ... )

It's not normal that Parker be caught in the act. It's so far from normal that it is a crime in and of itself. She freezes and turns at the sound of him and honestly doesn't know what to do with it. She could make it to the air vent in less than thirty seconds, but at the same time...he isn't pointing sharp and possibly lethal weapons in her direction.

And she really likes what he just said. A lot. She is easy about some things and this is one of them.

She's trying to figure out if this is a joke or what. It really can't be this is, can it?

"....anything?" She blinks a bit. Is this real life?

"Any of the art," he amends, though at this point, he doesn't actually think it's needed. Anything else that could possibly be taken would be of no value to her and is hidden in strategic locations.

Though, he also has no idea how long she's been in here but he's assuming she's just walked in for the art.

Or something. God, he has no idea and he's not entirely sure he cares at the moment.

"Look," he says. "!Give me a second to wash my face, then we can talk, okay?"

He doesn't wait for her to answer, just makes a beeline for his bathroom, pushing away stray supplies (he should really look into picking up more around here) and splashing his face with water.

That...helped. He feels slightly more human, at the very least.!

"All right," he says, drying his face as he walks back into the room. "Sorry about that, it's been a weird few days."

She still really doesn't know what to say to him, so mouthing wordlessly it is. And she still can't get words in order before he moves off to the bathroom so she just closes her mouth and goes back to looking at his art. It's all very pretty, and she's looking carefully for value in them. She knows Sophie is better at this part, and she also knows that Sophie probably wouldn't care how valuable it is.

Is it still stealing for a friend if this guy gives her the art? That is a good question...

She jumps a bit when he emerges again, and she nods. "Really weird," she says softly. "The Rift is making people do things they don't want to do again."
