[PARTY POST. Tag whoever!]

Gilderoy is up on the roof at midnight as promised, dressed in a suit that is, shockingly, both new and normal-looking. Rest assured that it was extremely expensive (where'd he get the money from? YOUR MOM don't ask) and there is, naturally, a splash of color-his tie is ridiculously purple-but he looks, for the first time ( Read more... )

Hermione Granger will be one of the first to make it to the roof to keep Professor Lockhart company. After what Harry disclosed to him, Hermione has been concerned, and has made it one of her goals to keep her eye on him and help him in what she is able to help him with. She's been feeling rather homesick and sad from having revisited it all herself. She'll greet Professor Lockhart and engage in conversation, if he is amenable to it, of course.

Later on, Hermione finds a suitable lounge chair at the far end of the roof.

She's brought a quilt with her to place at her feet, and a book, though she is surprisingly not reading from it. It remains closed on her lap as she takes in the night air. The past several weeks have been hectic, in more ways than one, and it's nice to simply sit down and be still.

She takes a deep breath and looks upward, waiting for something wonderful.

Harry ends up on the roof as well. He is not as quick as Hermione for the exact same reason. After what he told Lockhart, it seems best to give him some space and Harry's a bit awkward about it all. There's more of a crowd up there when Harry finally makes it to the roof.

He searches out several people including Hermione who he is not at all surprised that she has a book with her. It's the fact that the book isn't open that's strange.

Harry steps over to her, settling down on the corner of the quilt beside her. "I'm not used to having a book that you're not... actually reading," he comments with a small smile.

It's nice to not be hunting down something but to just... be existing like with the movie. For some reason, the movie seems like a very long time ago when it wasn't at all.

The past several weeks have been hectic, to put it mildly. Hermione has been researching all day, and Harry can probably guess at what. But she's reached her quota of reading--yes, even Hermione Granger has a quota--and her eyes were about to cross as she read the same line twice.

"I am perfectly capable of putting them down, you know," she says, smiling back at him softly. There will nearly always be a book with her, but she no longer has the same need to be the one that gets everything just right.

She shakes her head with another knowing smile, not surprised in the least Harry's forgotten to bring his own pillow and quilt. Hermione makes room for him, both on the chair and by moving the pillow further to his side.

"We've a bit of time before anything happens," she comments offhandedly, rubbing the side of her face with a furled hand. The night is clear, though. Pretty.

Harry knows Hermione has a quota, but he also knows that quota is not reached until a ridiculous amount of reading has been hit. He isn't at all surprised at what she would be researching, but he doesn't want her stressing herself out over it either. There may not be any answers. At least Voldemort isn't here to exploit that link.

"You are? No, I hadn't realized that at all. I'm quite proud of you for that ability," he says, smiling back at her though he isn't the least bit serious, no. Things have changed since they were younger in a lot of ways.

He moves over to sit beside her when she makes room, pretending as though he doesn't see that knowing smile of hers though he knows exactly why it is there. Look without Hermione, it's very likely Harry would rarely be prepared for anything.

Harry looks up at the sky before he glances at her again. "It's nice to get a bit of a break," he comments, noticing how she is rubbing the side of her face. "...won't be long before school starts." He doesn't sound all that pleased about it either ( ... )

Luna has been up outside on top of the Tower for some time. She's quietly sat by herself on a pillow, warming her hands with a small warming charm from her wand. She also has a flask of hot chocolate, but she's charmed it to stay hot much longer than usual. Who knows how long she's going to stay here?

She's also wearing her Lion hat - which she's finally finished. It's very comfy and snuggy, as weird as people might find it. While the days are warm here in Chicago, the night has become a little chilly.

She stares up at the skies with a dreamy stare, the stars look very pretty.

Harry ends up on top of the Tower as well, and he'll find Luna there with her hot chocolate and her lion mask. He smiles a bit at the sight before he walks over to sit beside her. He didn't bring a pillow or anything, because Harry doesn't really think ahead despite Gilderoy telling everyone that they should bring something along to sit on.

"Hello Luna," he says, adjusting his glasses a bit as he sits beside her. "I do love your Lion hat. It looks rather good, all finished."

He did grab a water bottle on his way up the stairs, and he has that at least. There was some minor preparation. Very minor.

Luna turns her head and smiles as he sits down, "Hello, Harry,"

She smiles brightly, very happy to hear that. She was well aware of the long, awkward silence everyone gave her the first time round she wore it back in their own world. Not that it bothered her. It's just nice to hear a compliment this time round is all.

"Thank you," she says with a nod, "It's rather cosy, you know,"

She turns her head back to the sky and blinks owlishly before passing her flask. "Hot chocolate..?" She has plenty to share!

Harry smiles back at her, glad as always to see her.

He glances up at the sky and then back at her. Harry has always been able to appreciate Luna's eccentrics more than most.

"You're welcome. I didn't realize that actually. I've never worn one before to be honest, but it's good to see the Griffyindor spirit remains even worlds away."

Harry nods at the question. "Really? Sure, hadn't even considered bringing any hot chocolate along. Brilliant of you really," he says, grabbing it and taking a drink appreciatively. "Thanks. How're you settling in?"
