Not much time has passed for Cassie Riddle in the time she’s been away from Chicago, only two days - to be exact. She found herself stuck in some bizzare mini-world that was almost the exact double of a gameshow she used to watch as a child called ‘Fun House’. Except this one doesn’t have nice prizes or fun games and is a lot harder than she ever ( Read more... )

Charlie's sitting in the bus depot for no particular reason at all.

He might be contemplating leaving town. He might be waiting for someone. He might just have gotten lost in a thought and wound up somewhere where he hadn't been expecting. Point of it all is, he's there. At the bus depot when a tall woman gets off and visions of sugar plums dance around her head.

Or maybe they're butterflies. It's entirely a possibility.

He smiles, however, when they start congratulating her. "Looks like someone's happy to see ya."

Dylan turns her head at the familiar voice temporarily forgets about the butterflies about her head. She stares at Charlie and it actually takes her a few moments to remember the day she spent as a child.

It was actually quite fun being a child, the world didn't seem to press down on her too much. There was just nice things, like ice cream.

"I... I think the Rift's happy for me," she says with a tired sigh. As much as it nice... she doesn't need it right now. She's tired and she's had a long bus ride.

She shakes her head, rubbing at her eyes. She smiles weakly and approaches him, "Hi, Mr. Charlie,"

His head tips at the familiar greeting, and it takes him a minute to place it. A tiny girl in oversized clothes flashes before his eyes, and he straightens a little more, giving her a small smile.

"Evie?"

Dylan wobbles on the spot a little bit, biting on her lower lip. Oh, right. She told him her real name, didn't she? She didn't realise it at the time, that she was meant to hide it. But when she was a little girl - she wasn't Dylan, so she wouldn't have thought to have given that name.

She nods awkwardly, "I was," she says and pauses for a moment to try and explain it, "Little Me is Evie," she says, titling her head to the side, "Big me is... not really Evie, but trying to be Evie again,"

If that makes sense, Charlie.

There are a few souls in Chicago that Castiel is especially attuned to when they come and go. It's not an easy task, bonding with a soul in that capacity, but these people are important enough to him that it's worth the effort. Sometimes it doesn't even take effort, just time, as was the case with Sam and Dean, but with some people it takes effort, as they had not had the same amount of time.

Cassie Riddle is one of those people.

He had felt her soul leave Chicago some time ago, and it had saddened him for some time. The second she reappears, however, he is at her side in a heart beat and he doesn't like what he finds. He crouches down, placing a hand on her back gently, and letting his grace flow through her in an attempt to heal whatever he can.

"Cassie?" he says slowly. "Can you hear me?"

Cassie stirs a few moments later with a low groan. Her muscle aches and the dull pain in her head seem to be soothed and she breathes a sigh of relief into the grass. There's nothing left but the pangs of hunger and dehydration.

In her state of grogginess, she feels a brief flash of panic to hear Castiel's voice. Did I die? Did I go to... But.. She just remembers something hitting her and then darkness as she was knocked out. Surely it didn't hit her that hard...?

No, that mustn't be right.

Opening her eyes, she takes a moment to take in what she can. Grass, she can feel grass between her fingers. This is good. Breathing in slowly, she tries to smile - she's never been more happy to see him.

"Cas.." she utters, "... Fun House wasn't as fun as it used to be,"

When she starts to stir, he relaxes, stops pushing his grace into her as much. He frowns when she makes the reference to Fun House, though. He really hasn't had time to watch much TV.

"I'm sorry. Perhaps next time will be a more enjoyable experience."

That's what you're supposed to say in situations like this, right?

Cassie's quiet for a long time, she's trying to get used to the sunlight. Fun House World was just fluorescent lights of various colours. The air was stuffy too, so she's going to enjoy fresh air too. She doesn't know the intricacies of his angel powers, she's not entirely sure of something as complex as that. But she does know whatever he's doing is very comforting and it's nice not to hurt or be on the edge of sheer exhaustion any more.

She offers him a tired, weak smile. Only Castiel could say something like that and he'd probably be the only one who'd end up getting a smile from her out of it too.

"It would've been nice if there was prizes," she utters and then after hearing her stomach growl. "Or lunch breaks,"

Cassie moves to push herself up, very slowly, "That was a long two days,"

Buffy doesn't really have much of an excuse to be where she is, nor does she really have a reason. She just happens to wander down to the pier at the exact time that Capa happens to go rocketing through the air, over her head.

It's an interesting sight, to say the least.

Buffy might just be a little jealous.

But her hero instincts kick in as soon as the horse is settled, and she goes to crouch down next to the literal knight in shining armor on the pier, and pushes up the helmet. "Are you okay?"

Knight in shining armour is rather complimentary, Buffy. Unfortunately, Capa's more of a nerd in shining armour more than anything. He fails at being a knight. Very much so.

He tries to move, but finds himself stuck under the weight of the metal. Great. Oh well. Blinking in the bright sunlight that hits his eyes, he peers up curiously at the blonde woman. Offering a sheepish smile, he does his best to nod. "I'm alright, I think the armour took the blow,"

And then he has to ask, because this certainly isn't Medieval England. "Uh, this might be a little strange... but could you tell me... Where and when am I..?" he asks with a slight frown.

"Chicago," Buffy says with a nod as she reaches up to get the helmet off the rest of the way. He seems like he's having a hard time with the armor, and she just wants to help. "July 2011, if that helps?"

She places the helmet down next to him, before shifting and extending her hands to him. "C'mon. I'll help you up."

Capa raises his eyebrows as she replies and he feels a brush of relief. This is good, he's in Chicago - and hopefully it's the right one. "I lost a month.." he comments. He'll know for sure when he can check what day it is. He last remembers it being the tenth of June.

"And... strange things happen here, right..?" He's trying to be careful, just in case.

He's incredibly grateful for the help as she takes off his helmet for him, especially since it's so warm. He does not like to be in all this metal, it's a conductor of heat after all.

"I'd appreciate that, thanks," he says with another smile, nodding as he reaches for her hands and getting ready to push himself up.

Leon hasn't seen people get hit by cars before. It's just not a regular occurrence in his life. Seeing people get beaten up, sure---of course, most of the time it's him that's getting beaten up.

But there's something so sickening, seeing a body just roll off a car like that, and it makes Leon a little nauseous. That doesn't stop him from rushing head-long into Chicago traffic to see if there's anything he can do.

He drops to his knees next to Doyle. It's obvious the man is still alive from all the shouting, but--are those his legs that are visibly broken? Leon's not usually a queasy kind of guy, but that sort of makes him feel ill. He pales, at the very least, and his voice shakes a little bit as he tries to sound comforting ( ... )

Doyle can hear various cars breaking, horns blaring and he's pretty sure it's him they're honking at. It's not like he can do anything, with the messed up legs. He just sits and grumbles about the driver who took off without even saying sorry.

But instead, there's a teenager, white as a sheet, rushing towards him. He waves a calm hand of dismissal, he's in pain - but he doesn't need anyone panicking here. "It's alright," he says, wiping at his sweaty brow. "I'll be fine,"

An ambulance? No way, Leon. Doyle is not going to a hospital, he's not comfortable being poked and prodded at by Doctors.

"You don't need an ambulance, it's fine," he insists. "... I can.. heal,"

Leon stares at the man like he's absoultely crazy. Can he not feel the pain of two broken legs? Leon broke an arm once and he remembers how much pain was involved--a hell of a lot of pain.

There's a word for that, though. Leon's watched enough medical shows on TV. "Sir, I think you're in shock," he says, trying to be as clear as possible. "I really do think you need an ambulance. There are hospitals in the area who can help you if there's a difficult situation, but I really do think you need a hospital."

And then he keeps talking. And Leon is just boggled. "You can heal?" he asks hesitantly. Is this guy crazy? It's making Leon even more nervous than before.

Doyle is... pretty used to that look. God knows how many people gave him it during the week that the Rift messed around with his head. Staggering around, looking probably high and blood everywhere.

He shakes his head, definitely not in shock. Well, he probably might be - but he's not really concerned. He knows he's going to be alright.

"No, no... still don' need one," he insists, waving a hand of dismissal.

And then at the boy's question, he nods, "Yeah, heal. Rift helped me do it," he tells him, "Just.. give me a few and it'll be fine,"

It's not every day Dani sees someone fall from the sky.

But this is Chicago, isn't it?

She stuffs the book she was reading into her bag and hurries over to the woman nearby, nearly tripping over her own feet when she realizes who she's looking at.

No wonder Cassie didn't answer her note.

Dani drops to her knees and places a hand on Cassie's shoulder, giving her a quick once-over for injuries before gently nudging her. "Cas-" The name sticks in her throat like glue, and Dani has to cough to make it pass. "Um. Miss? Hey, are you alright?"

Cassie opens her eyes, disorientated and coughs - feeling a little winded from the landing. She lets out a low moan of pain, everything hurts. Nothing's broken, she's just bruised and achy.

And then, she can feel the grass under her hands, between her fingers and she's not sure what's going on. Everything is just bright lights and noise and.. someone's speaking to her.

".. I... Where am I?" she asks weakly, "I.. did I fall through another Rift,"

She's not really thinking that it could be absolute crazy talk she's speaking - just on the chance she's not in Chicago. But anyone could clearly pass it off with her confusion.

"You might have," Dani says, leaning back on her heels to give Cassie some space while she comes to. "I just... I saw you fall. From the sky."

It kind of screams 'rift', doesn't it?

"You're in Chicago. It's July, 2011."

starryeyed_cass July 2 2011, 15:37:04 UTC
"Oh.." She's not quite sure what to make of that. She's done a lot of falling lately. Usually there were ball pits and massive vats of gunge involved.

Cassie's slow to move, pushing herself up with her arms to sit. She looks at Dani, she doesn't know who she is. But hearing the word 'Chicago' is definitely a good thing.

But then.

"July?!" There is panic and worry in her voice. As much as she is tired and achy, she is going to throw that all out the window. Because if she's lost that much time, people are going to be looking for her and freaking that maybe the CLF got her.

"But.. I.. I was only gone two days," she explains. "It should only be June the seventeeth, not July,"

And now her headache just got ten times worse.
