Millie is in her house, arranging some of the new couches she picked up when she went out looking for furniture earlier that day. She's pushing them into a few of the spare rooms and trying to make the space look comfortable ( Read more... )

Medusa finds herself on a paved city street, and starts, her eyes wide. Before she can close them, she realizes that she is looking at someone's back as they walk away from her, and they have not turned to stone.

She feels like sinking to the ground in relief. She doesn't, though her knees are weak.

She simply stands in front of a house with an open door, looking around and wondering if this is, in fact, Chicago - if it is her Chicago - and how she can tell. Then she sees - she sees her old journal, brown, faded, lying not far from her on the pavement. Slowly, she bends to pick it up, and then straightens, standing there, wondering what she should do now. It certainly seems as if this is her Chicago, but ... she still doesn't know what to do.

Most likely, in her torn and sandy jeans, deteriorated black top, and blank expression, she is looking impossibly lost right now.

Millie is coming out of the house after having just moved in another armchair. *It's not easy work moving furniture but she doesn't mind doing it considering it's for a good cause.

She catches sight of the lost looking girl and waits a moment to see if she does anything, then decides to approach.

"Hey there, sweetie,," she says gently, approaching her carefully. "You look a little lost. Are you new here?"

TO Chicago? To the universe?

Medusa looks up at the voice as if it were the first time she had ever been spoken to, only - not quite as shocked, no. But dumbfounded. The woman before her looks tired, but nice.

Tired, but nice. It runs through Medusa's head a few times before it truly makes sense to her.

She glances at the woman's face for a quick instant, and then her eyes flicker down to the hand that holds her journal.

"Am I - this is Chicago?"

She's not quite sure how to get the information she really wants. She has a vague sense that asking Are you a supernatural? would not be a good idea.

"... I have been gone for ... a time."

The longer they just stand there the more certain Millie is that she's going to be bringing her inside. One hand reaches out, palm up as an offering. "

"Why don't you come inside," she says with a smile. "C'mon, I'll get you something to eat and something good to drink and we can talk."

"This is Chicago though," she adds. "But....It might not be the Chicago you know. It could be a very different place." She sounds a little sad when she says it but she smiles all the same.

"I'll explain everything inside. "Let's just get you inside first."

John saw the notice over the journals, and as promised, he has come to help Millie with some of the heavy lifting. His head's been elsewhere, admittedly, and the latest cases the Crowbar's been dealing with keep him tied up more so than usual. That still doesn't mean he won't take the time out of his day to help a friend, and he respects and admires what Millie's doing.

Since the door's been left open, he'll sweep in, both hand stuck in his pockets. He'll wander around a bit aimlessly, trying to find Millie. Once he doesn't, a small smirk spreads across his face. "Marco?"

She can feel someone entering the house as soon as he steps through the door and she looks up but she's kind of in the middle of a couch and a hard place, so she can't just rush out and go greet him.

When she hears him call out though, she can't help but laugh. "Polo!" She calls out from one of the side rooms, crawling over the couch and flopping on it for a moment.

She'll get up and greet you in a second John, she just found a comfy spot.

John's hearing is sharp, no matter how old he's getting!

He hears her answer back, and the smirk turns into a half-amused smile as he ambles his way over to the side room. He leans against the door frame and watches her flop over. DAW, it's cute.

"Now, Millie. Did you really start without me? My feelings might be hurt."

"You were a slowpoke," she says very matter-of-factly, her body now half dangling off of the couch so that she's looking at him from a slightly awkward angle.

She's grinning though and pushi9ng herself upright so she can look at him. "I just needed to get a couple of couches offr the back of the truck today. It was nothing too big."

Getting to her feet, she walks over to John, giving him a kiss on the cheek. "How're you holding up?"

Elizabeth wanders over to the house. She was in Italy while all of the terrible things that happened in Chicago happened. When she was younger, she would have felt guilt for not being here to help through them, but she realizes that while Chicago is her responsibility, there is no way she can help with every death.

Though she tries while she is in the city. It's impossible for her to keep from seeking out those who will be dying soon while she's here. She steps into the house and lets out a whistle.

"Holy canoli," she says as she stands in the front doorway of the house and smiles at all that she sees before exclaiming, "it's beautiful!"

Millie laughs from behind a couch. "Ain't it just? There's so much house I don't really know what I'm supposed to do with it all?"

She hops over the couch and moves to give Elizabeth a hug. "Hey there, honey. I wasn't expecting you so soon!"
Not that she minds and that's evident.

"The ideas that you talked about in the journal are great," Elizabeth says with a smile that widens into a grin as she rambles happily away. "And knowing you, you'll only come up with more great ideas. Hey, maybe one room can be set up for tutoring for kids or those who want to learn something new. We could all use distractions sometimes, enriching our lives and stuff."

She hugs her back, tight as she can and then she pulls back again, still grinning. "I just got back from Italy for a week which felt like much longer and much shorter at the same time so I missed you. I wanted to see you and check out this house of awesome."

"Well,," she says smiling. "We're actually gonna try and make this a sorta...an activity centre? Kiinda. We're still gonna try and have people around who can counsel folks but we're gonna try and have other people come in who can teach and I'm gonna work on the other floors and get a few bedrooms set up so that if there are folks who need a place to go and don't got one they can stay here."

Her eyes go wide. "Really? Oh you gotta tell em all about it! Did you love it? I've been there and thought it was breathtaking but well," she laughs. "It doesn't take much to impress me. I think the world's a beautiful place."
