Helen Magnus doesn't know what to do with herself. She's made due in this strange Chicago, meeting a few helpful people and realizing that she might have something to learn in her time here, but still... She cannot help but feel so useless. She's spent the greater part of a century running an intricate network of havens for unique creatures, and

"Well," she says, leaning forward to watch the woman as she passes. "Someone looks like they're frustrated."
She hops to her feet, her boots clicking against the pavement as she does so. "A woman like you looks like she should have more of a purpose or is it that purpose that's leaving you so frustrated."
Nosy Aurora is nosy. Also bored as all get out.

"No, it would be the lack of true purpose that is causing my distress. I'm getting used to a more... relaxing schedule, and as of yet, I cannot find a way to pass the time that doesn't not feel... wasteful." She extends a hand.
"Helen Magnus. And you are?"

"A pleasure, Helen Magnus," she says her smile growing more. "And I'm so sorry to hear about your predicament, though it doesn't seem to be a new one in this city." She looks around them, gesturing to the street. "I think everyone's a little displaced in Chicago these days."
She's learning what it's like to be displaced, to be forced to stay somewhere like this. It's not exactly a feeling she's reveling in but she's getting used to it.
"Aurora," she adds after a moment. "My name is Aurora."

A lovely conversation with a new face always pulls Helen out of a funk, so she's more than happy to get to know this young woman.

Not to mention, he has both shoes on. Count 'em.
He carries a cup of coffee in one hand while keeping the newspaper tucked under his arm. Spotting the familiar face, he comes to a full stop a few feet away from her.
"You look," he decides in greeting, "like a woman in need of a distraction."

"Am I that obvious?" She asks, folding her arms over her chest and sighing. "I don't mean to be. This place is... Well, it has reminded me of just how needed I am in my own dimension." She pauses and laughs in a frustrated way, realizing that there is nothing that can be done.
"A distraction would be lovely. What would you suggest?"
Reply
"I can't begin to imagine how frustrating that is for you. But, you know...you can also be needed here. Wanderers--they have all the odds stacked against them. What was it you did back in your own world, if you don't mind me asking?"
John finally reaches her, standing beside her. His grin broadens again. "I'm a very busy man, Helen Magnus. I have at least five errands to run today, and one of them could use a female's tasteful opinion, if you wouldn't mind keeping me company."

"I never could tell a story concisely. Do tell me if I'm boring you." She continues. "From his work, I was able to form a Sanctuary, then another, and another. Soon, a network was born, all under the same banner- Sanctuary for All. We are a haven, a safe place for all creatures, large and small, common and Abnormal. The dangerous are kept safe from others and themselves. As for the others? They are free to come and go as they please. I run no prison."

He sets the paper in his lap with a sigh as he takes another sip. That is when he notices the woman walking near him, and he smiles and nods.
"Morning."
Reply
"Oh. Good morning to you as well." She returns, a smile forming on her face. "It seems you're making more of it than I am. Perhaps I should take a page from your book. Do you know of an establishment that serves a good cup of tea, though. I can't stand coffee- dreadful stuff."

He looks in the direction where the shop was. "I could tell you, or show you. I know I still get lost sometimes."

"Might I trouble you for a name? If we are to be in each other's company for any amount of time, it's only fair."
