You won’t hear about it in the news or in the paper but there was a fire. It wasn’t too dangerous, it wasn’t too big but it caused damage all the same

omg. D: Iris would feel remiss if she didn't tag this one.sophicsulphurNovember 17 2010, 06:55:28 UTC
It's difficult for Iris to pay all that much attention to the world around her, some days. Her Calling eats up almost all of her focus, though it's a pleasant sort of focus-eating, drifting in a world that's just her and Kaden. Or her and Molly, when she lets her thoughts wander off in that direction. It's an insular world, and sometimes she worries about how much she lets it consume her. But it's exciting, addictive. Suddenly, her life feels like it's going places, not just circling around the same old track

Millie will not complain! We'll ignoe the fact that she should be used to bad things happeninginventandforgetNovember 17 2010, 07:09:07 UTC
She's not paying attention to where she's going, not really. She doesn't care who's around or what's going on. She's lost in thought, her mind distracted by ashes and the orange glow of a dying fire.
She should be paying more attention it's not safe to wander the streets like that but she doesn't are, not really. It's post truamtic apathy.
Someone calls to her and she looks up, her gaze looking somewhat dazed. "Huh?" She blinks. "Iris?"
She smiles somewhat awkwardly, waving to the girl. "What d'ya mean? Nothin's wrong."
She's in a little bit of denial, don't mind her. It's how she deals right now. Pretend it never happened while looking for somewhere new. Her lines of thought don't agree but if she doesn't think too hard, she can pretend that everything's all right.
Iris is mildly unconvinced. She's sure she hasn't got that bad at reading people's facial tells. Then again, maybe the angel was just lost in thought. It's hard for someone like her to really be able to imagine what life must be like, for someone as venerable and powerful as Millie.
"...If you're sure," she says, rubbing the back of her neck, a dubious look on her face. A moment's pause, and then she considers it time to switch tracks. If something really is up, she's sure she'll get it out of her in conversation sooner or later. "So how's it going, then? Seems like it's been forever. I've hardly seen you since the coffee shop and all."
It’s funny, Iris things she might have trouble but she’s probably wrong. Millie’s thought processes arent’ that complicated, the centuries haven’t made her a complex, curious creature. Maybe they should have. Maybe if she had let time affect her the way it was supposed to instead of denying and forgetting that things change, she would be able to deal with things better, not let the world slip away every time things go wrong

Luka is out wandering the streets today. Perhaps later she'll get supplies for her latest cooking experiment. After Robin helped her out the other day in the Kashtta, the cookies didn't turn out too badly so perhaps she'll try something else today.
Luka spots a familiar face . "Hello, Millie!" she waves, walking up to the angel.
"How are you?" Luka asks. "Are you doing anything interesting right now?" Maybe Luka'll decide to tag along if Millie is doing something that sounds fun. Or if she's not, then maybe they can go to a coffee shop and have pastries and hot chocolate. Millie gave Luka hot chocolate last time, so maybe this time Luka can buy hot chocolate for Millie!
"Nothin' interesting." she informs with a sigh. "I'm...not really sure what I'm doin' at all."
She looks at Luka, studying the girl carefully. "You look better," she informs. "It's good to see you outta a hospital." She means it too. While she has nothing against hospitals, it's never her favorite thing to meet sweet people there.
...Best PB ever! <3inventandforgetNovember 19 2010, 02:42:28 UTC
She looks up, unsure if she's the one being spoken to at all. She was kind of hoping she had turned into a ghost while she wasn't looking, that way she could just let herself drift through the city until she figured out what she was going to do.
Unfortunately that didn't happen and now she's left staring at Fletcher with a slightly confused expression.
"You talkin' to me?" She tilts her head, still unsure but figuring it's probabl7y better to find out than ignore him. First off, it's rude. Second off, you never know who you might be snubbing.
"Aye," he says, then stops, because what the hell? Randomly stopping people in the street is so not his style.
But.
The only other First he ever knew was the Order's founder, who died decades ago. He remembers the funeral well; aside from his coming to Chicago, that was his only trip he's ever had outside of the country.
Italy was nice, he remembers.
"Um. Hi," he says. "I... are you all right? Aren't you cold, dressed like that?"
She probably got an invite to that funeral but didn't go. She avoids interactions with other First or, usually, anyone who might be connected with them. She knows she's nuot up to their standards, what they want from a First, so she just does her best to avoid people and not be a disappointment to them.
She shakes her head. "Nah, I'm fine." She looks down at herself. "Just a little cold, won't go killin' anyone. Certainly not me."
She bites her lip, considering him for a moment before adding, a little awkwardly. "'Sides, nobody interestin's gonna stop and ask me if I'[m cold if I had a jacket on."
Maybe he'll turn out to be the most boring creature she ever met but right now? He's a distraction and that makes him infinitely more interesting then her own mind.

It's unexpected but she doens't mind. Someone to distract her might be nice, she can get her mind off of the smell of smoke and the sight of flames.

That certain something is Fletcher-shaped and eating sushi as he walks. He's a very good multitasker.
Except then he notices Millie. He side-steps out of her way as she passes, half of a California roll sticking out of he mouth, then calls out: "Mmff!"
Wait.
No need to embarrass yourself in front of a First, Fletcher.
He spits the roll out.
"Hey!"
