Bela Talbot is sitting in a cafe in Chicago, looking over the morning paper. It isn't that she's bored, so much as she expects to maintain a certain quality of living. It's one she's become accustomed to, and she knows that that kind of living won't come without some kind of money. So she's looking for a job, something with a bit of class, that ( Read more... )

Parker still doesn't have anything better to do with her days than walk around the city and try to get into trouble. Or try not to. She isn't too picky ( ... )

Bela looks up from the paper and raises an eyebrow at the person sitting across from her. "I wasn't aware the cafe was that crowded," she says evenly, before looking back down at the paper. "Normally, however, it's polite to ask before taking a seat at someone's table."

She isn't in the mood for confrontation, but she does believe in most of the rules of etiquette and she hadn't wished to be disturbed. Therefore, she would have preferred if the girl asked before sitting, but that's just her.

Parker isn't one for following etiquette, much less for knowing what normal might be. She saw a seat she wanted to sit in, so she sat. She watches the girl across from her and shrugs slightly.

"Okay. Is the cafe crowded?" She glances around then, looking like she cares.

Bela looks up at her and raises an eyebrow, before shaking her head. "I suppose it is."

She didn't mind that she is sitting there so much as she just wants to be left alone. So long as Parker does just that, they shouldn't have a problem. But who knows if that'll work.

Far be it for Josef to interrupt someone that does not want interruption. He himself has often sat in a cafe, giving anyone that dares to inch closer a withering look that forces them to take several steps back.

Except this is a Wanderer Josef has met, and it was a Wanderer that intrigued him. She knew of demons. Demons different to Chicago, but demons nonetheless.

"Ms. Talbot," Josef says pleasantly, tucking the newspaper under his arm. "Settling into Chicago alright?"

If she'd rather be left alone, he'll leave her alone, but well...it never hurts to try.

She looks up at the sound of Josef's voice and shrugs. "As easily as one can settle into a city where you have no possessions, rights or political standing."

She isn't sure if she wants to be left alone or not in terms of Josef. She knows that he's a demon, and on some level that unnerves her. She also knows that demons in Chicago aren't the same as normal, everyday demons where she comes from, but that still doesn't make her inclined to trust.

It does make her inclined to try and figure it out, though.

"Fair enough," Josef says with a nod, scratching the back of his head. He isn't the sort to overtly interest himself in matters pertaining to Wanderers. He's aware there are those that fight for their rights, and help them settle in far better than they would on their own, but he's never been a Good Samaritan.

"You still seem to be fairing better than many who've come before you. Mind if I join you?" he asks lightly, lifting the newspaper he'd tucked under his arm. It's the same one she's reading.

It's probably nothing but depressing, anyway. The day the newspaper writes about something good happening in Chicago is the very same day hell freezes over.

"I'm used to taking care of myself," she says evenly. She watches him for a moment, trying to figure out of he's after more than just a seat. She figures that letting him sit wouldn't hurt, however, and nods.

"Go right ahead," she nods, adjusting the position of the paper on the table.
