Today, Lily Yoshiko Fuchizaki is going to leave her apartment. For those who don't know her, this may seem like something unimportant. For those who know her, they'll realize it's been far too long since this has happened.
She packed up Justin's toys and they've been put away. You'd have to dig in the closets and look carefully to see that a child had ever lived here. She's back on drugs. She didn't actually go back to her psychiatrist, and what she's been taking hasn't exactly been prescription. She let herself slip up. Let Kaden drug her. And now she's back in that downward spiral where she doesn't know how to cope without them.
At least it helps with the Calling.
She's preparing to go to school next week. On Monday. She's going to go to her classes. Yes, classes started a while back but she hasn't exactly been functional. It starts with going out now. You can find her in various places around town -
She has to drop by and grab some coffee. She has to drop by campus and talk to the OSD. She has to do so much. She has to drop back and check on Kaden at work. She's been able to work at least. That's mostly been due to a hand on her upper arm and fingers in her hair and -
Everything has been a blur. All she knows is that Kaden has helped her through all of this. There have been moments where things haven't been as they should be, but she doesn't think so hard about those. She doesn't think about all the phone calls she hasn't returned.
And she doesn't think about the fact that they put Justin in boarding school. One of those boarding schools.
But if anyone wishes to run into Lily, they can find her in a coffee shop, on campus, near Biosys, wandering downtown, grocery shopping, and then at a club near their apartment, drunk and dancing.
She just needs to let go.
On another side of town, Francis Barnam is standing, bleeding from head-to-toe, staring at a hospital. He's standing in the ER entrance. Someone put him here. He doesn't remember why.
Something is broken, or he'd probably already be gone. But there's no way in fell he's wandering into that place. Oh, how he hates hospitals. He's pretty delirious at this point, due to bloodloss.
"I told you, sir," he mumbles. "I'd get those motherfellers. I took them down."
Another person who's not doing her best would be Tabitha Claypool, who has passed out on the bus stop. No one's really doing anything about it; they assume she's a vagrant or a druggie or something, considering her pallor, even though she's dressed nicely.
Things are getting worse faster than she'd hoped.
EDEN is broken again. This is extra problematic because EDEN is completely self-aware. There is nothing left inside of hir except what se is. The glitches are painful. Se doesn't know why they had to -- no, se knows why they had to give hir pain circuits, but it's still unfair.
Cyberskin is ripped from the side of hir face as se sits on a bench in the park, exposing metal frames and damaged circuitry. Se folds hir hands in hir lap as se watches everyone play in the park. How to interact is questionable.
Then there's a scream.
With the damage to hir chips, it takes a few moments for the noise to register then EDEN looks up to a woman screaming and pointing. Opening hir mouth, as if to say something, EDEN just wants to allay fears. Instead, there's only static. Everything is broken.
Sometimes, EDEN wishes that se was programmed to be able to cry. Because that's what se wants to do right now.
THREAD WARNING: The Kaden (doyoulikecake) and Lily thread contains torture and self-injury. Read at your own discretion. Oh. And violence. But that's not really warning-material.
