He hears the screams and his wings are out before he can even think about it. He can feel her. Oh, he can even almost taste that palpable fear and he needs to sate his Calling. The crashes and bright lights in his head are old memories, but this, this right now is not the past that is the future, but just this moment. He can hear her, running, running, running.
He can run too, and he's not stumbling. His wings are mantled, and he licks his lips, just thinking about what it feels like to be finally on the hunt again. It almost takes too long to actually track the little bitch down, but there she is, splayed out on the ground, tossed in with the rubbish like the little piece of trash she is.
Francis laughs, flexing his wings. Without even pausing over her, he falls quickly to his knees, grabbing for her hair, trying to wrestle her face upwards.
"Don't worry," he says, "I really don't give a fuck about what you did back there. But don't think that's going to save you, you little cunt."
Chance has no idea what's going on any more, just that there's a guy--an angel, she can feel his cold skin against hers--pulling on her hair and it fucking hurts.
"What the FUCK!" she shouts, trying to pull out of his grasp even though it brings tears to her eyes, yanking on her hair like that. "You BASTARD what the fucking FUCK ALL let go GET OFF OF ME HELP!"
She's flailing violently, kicking at him and trying her best to punch him. What the fucking fuck is going on here? Who the hell is this guy?
"I didn't--I don't--FUCK!" she shouts again. Trying to explain what is going on isn't going to help--he just said he didn't care what she did. But why the hell would he be trying to just kill her?
She's not going to repeat what she just did--she's not going to poke around until she finds something she can use to get him to let go of her. It's what got her in this mess in the first place, and besides, the hair-pulling is distracting enough that she can't focus on much of anything right now.
"I would threaten to cut out your tongue," Francis says softly, his words contrasting her screams, "but there's nothing that feels better than the futile screams of a little bitch who thinks there's anything she can do about her situation."
He tugs harder on her hair, his other hand reaching to pull out his knife. This is going to be slow and sweet. There's going to be so much blood. It's like he can smell it already.
"So keep screaming, you slut," he continues, shoving her all the way back down on the pavement with his foot. He doesn't let go of her hair, straining her neck at a dangerous angle. His breath hitches slightly as runs the edge of the knife along her wings.
"Pretty little things, aren't they?" he muses. He digs the knife idly into the skin around them, watching the black blood pool up. "I think they'll be a nice addition to my collection."
That shuts Chance up, fast. She's shaking now, hard, and she can't seem to figure out what the hell's going on, what she did wrong, what would make this man do this. Clearly he's some kind of psychopath--clearly something is wrong. She doesn't know how she's going to get out of this alive--she doesn't know is she's going to at all. All she can do is squeal as he cuts into her wings.
"Please," she pleads, even though something tells her saying something isn't going to help. "I don't know... I'm sorry." She tries to pull out of his reach, the cut burning around the knife. "I didn't--I'll do whatever you want, I promise. Whatever."
Whatever he wants. She made a promise a long time ago not to let anyone do whatever they wanted to her--she wasn't going to be vulnerable. Now, though? Now she has no choice.
