Braeden Rhodes has just moved. He hasn't moved to Chicago, as he's been here for most of his life. He likes to move, though. There's the fun of picking out a new space, finding new friends, discovering those tiny little places in different neighborhoods that only the people in the neighborhoods really know about ( Read more... )

Robin Rice does not ever remember any of the people that he's had sex with in the past. Well, that's a lie. He remembers some, but the names rarely stay with him. It's why when he steps out of the apartment, he doesn't recognize the person on the lawn chair... with the binoculars.

He stops and stares.

Is this--

Is this seriously happening?

This can't be legal, can it?

Robin is trying to decide if he should engage to ask what the hell he's doing or if he should simply walk away as fast as he can. He's still trying to decide, which is why he's just... standing there on the pavement. Robin stares.

Braedon's mouth drops open when someone comes outside. He stands up, moving a finger up to readjust the focus on his binoculars.

All of a sudden, Robin Rice's face is in sight, and Braeden starts moving forward. The binoculars come down when a car honks repeatedly at him, and he waves a hand in the general direction of the screaming motorist.

He simply can't look away. Not right now. Not in this moment. Braeden places the binocular strap over his shoulder, then over his neck, and works the strap until the binoculars, themselves, are against his back.

Nothing can interfere with the initial reunited hug. He's been thinking about this for a very long time, after all.

When he's finally close enough, he blinks to clear his eyes. It's an emotional moment, and it really can't be helped. Rob-Rob is just as handsome as he remembers. He'd been a little afraid time would have built the other man up in his head and he'd be disappointed, but no. A hand moves up to Brae's face and he shakes his head. "I've waited for this for ...so ( ... )

Robin does not take that invitation. In fact, he doesn't actually move when the crazy person comes over to him. Why would he? There's a person that had been sitting on a lawn chair with binoculars, walking over to him and talking about waiting for something for so long.

The face is not at all familiar to him. Why would it be? Since when has he paid attention to the faces of people that he's slept with? It's all about the quick, intense heat of the moment that's powerful enough to distract him, and then he's back to searching for another distraction. Sex has never meant anything more to him than that. It's why he could have so much sex, so casually without thinking twice about it.

He fills his life with one night stands, and it worked for him at the time. It isn't as if he even believed in love then.

He actually takes a calculated step backward when this person advances on him. Is he-- Oh dear Lord, is he actually crying ( ... )

Braeden is a little confused, admittedly, when Robin doesn't throw himself into his arms.

After the two nights of miraculous wonder they shared, he's absolutely sure that there is no way that the man can't remember him.

He blinks several times before lowering his arms. His hands move to rest at his waist as he peers at Robin. "Rob-Rob, sweetie-kins. Are you okay?"

There's a loud tsk as he clicks his tongue together, then he begins walking in a wide semi-circle around the other man, lifting himself up on his toes a bit to see the top of Robin's head better. He doesn't see any bumps, but that doesn't mean the man hasn't sustained any serious head trauma in the past few years.

Braeden is somewhat of an expert on these matters. He dated an X-Ray technician once.

"I think," he says slowly, his face set in a loving and kind expression, "that you have amnesia."
