At the moment there is a very confused Immortal standing in the Rift Room. Of course, you wouldn't know he was an Immortal unless you tried to kill him, but that's beside the point, or so the narration chooses to believe. Maya is just taking a stroll through the basement, getting ready for her first official day on the job. She's still not fine with this place, but as long as she's here, it seems counterproductive not to do something. It's like Pascal's Wager, except that instead of God, she's gambling on the reality of this place.

She's taking her own self-guided tour to get into the spirit of things. Honestly, she didn't expect to see someone standing in the Rift Room, and it catches her a little by surprise.

"...hello," she says, after a moment. "Did you just arrive here?" She still doesn't know everyone who's already here, yet.

Methos starts and turns to face her. "Oh. Hi. Uh, yeah, I did just get here... Where is here, exactly?"

He adjusts the long coat he's wearing to make sure his sword is still hidden. Best to remain inconspicuous for now.

Maya's written out half a dozen ways to say this, and picked the one that makes her sound least mad. Not that it makes her sound sane, of course; there are some pieces of news that just won't go over well, no matter what you do.

"We're not sure of the exact physics," she begins, "but this place is the destination of a unidirectional rift in space and time. It seems to collect people at random from other places and bring them here."

Methos stares at her blankly. "Uh. Sorry. That went completely over my head. In layman's terms, please? And where are we, I mean, what city?" He pauses, then adds under his breath, "If we're even still on Earth."
