Now back to this post.

Sadly, this post does not have your characters in it, BUT IT COULD.

Gray Raines is currently on a streetcorner, snogging a random woman he doesn't know. IT COULD BE YOUR CHARACTER. The reason for this snogging is because he may or may not have gotten into some trouble at a pool ( Read more... )

Lord only knows how Chance got caught up in this whole mess. She's supposed to be in school right now--last day before Spring Break and all--but instead, she's been tied up back to back with an angel.

Score one for her. Except not really.

"I have a math test today," she grumbles under her breath, adjusting as much as she can, being tied up. "And I actually studied, and I won't study over Spring Break and then I'll fail and I'm already failing this class and LET ME GO ALREADY JESUS WHAT IS GOING ON ANYWAY?"

Chance is kind of the worst captive ever. Sorry, Aaron.

Aaron rolls his eyes in the back of his head and reminds himself that he totally gave up killing demons for Lent... And then gave up Catholicism for Lent, but he's pretty sure it still counts. Somewhere.

"What? Teachers these days don't except the 'I got kidnapped' excuse anymore? Boy, things've changed since I was in school," he shoots back.

"No," snaps Chance. "They don't. Believe me. I tried the whole 'THERE WERE PLAGUES I COULDN'T WRITE AN ESSAY' thing and I just got in trouble and there had to be a conference. There always has to be a fucking conference." She kicks at the floor.

"I have a math test today AND we're probably getting a huge English assignment or--" she cuts off suddenly as she thinks of another, more horrible option.

"IF THERE IS A POP QUIZ ON OUR READING IN HISTORY AND I MISS IT 'CAUSE YOU FUCKERS HAVE ME TIED UP TO SOME BITCHTASTIC ICE MAN, I WILL FLIP A SHIT, OKAY?" she hollers. "LIKE, FOR SERIOUS, MOFOS."

She's never cared about her grades more than today, that's for certain.

Aaron cringes. SMALL DEMON GIRLS HAVE HUGE LUNG CAPACITY. DETAILS AT ELEVEN. "Knock it off," he hisses. "I'm tryin' to think."

Actually, he's not, because the only brilliant idea he has right now is working the knife out of his pocket and cutting the ropes, but he really doesn't want her alerting those idiots before he can do that.

Ivanova looks at the horse. Then she looks at Mac. Then back to the horse. Then back to Mac.

"This is a dream, isn't it? Any minute now, I'm going to be naked in C&C or I'll find out the woman I thought was my mother was really me all along, or the Psi Corps will dissect my brain while speaking in rhyming couplets."

Yes, Ivanova's dreams are really that strange. Well, except for the one where she's naked. She has it on good authority most people have that one.

"...I don't even want to think about what this symbolizes."

"It's not a dream," Mac says. "It's a shapeshifter." Which begs the question of why she's riding a shapeshifter and all the sex jokes that represents. Eesh. She clambers off with a sigh. "I could explain, but it's not less crazy than it sounds."

That random girl - luckily or unluckily for you - happens to be your best friend, Gray. Well done.

She flinches and reels back, tightening her grip instinctively on Niko's leash. She takes her dog for a walk, she gets grabbed and kissed by a random guy. How is this her life?

Before she can kick his legs out from under him, or put a fist in his solar plexus, though... she looks up and realizes just who the random guy is. And instantly demands, "What did you do?" She doesn't mean the kissing. She means whatever he did to prompt the kissing.

MENTAL NOTE: PAY MORE ATTENTION TO THE GIRLS HE'S KISSING.

MENTAL NOTE: WORK TO MAKE SUBCONSCIOUS LESS FREUDIAN, BECAUSE WOW. THE PSYCHOLOGICAL RAMIFICATIONS OF THIS SITUATION ARE ASTOUNDING.

Gray stammers a few seconds before collecting himself enough to go, "...What makes you think I did something- Oh right." Yeah, that kneejerk response only works when you weren't just desperately kissing your best friend randomly. "Uh. Pool sharks ain't as nice as you might be led to believe."

"Pool sharks," she repeats slowly, like she's making sure she's getting that right. "And they-"

She breaks off as Niko barks and lunges for Gray eagerly. Casey jerks him back down onto all four paws before he makes contact - he's just trying to say hello, but an overexcited adolescent labrador bowling Gray over is not going to help this conversation.

"Okay. Now walk me from the pool sharks to the part where you grabbed me. Because I'm not following the train of logic." Except that her best friend is an idiot sometimes, but they both already knew that.

"I wasn't thinkin' clearly," Gray drawls, which goes without saying. He leans down to give Niko a scritch behind the ears to make up for the dog not getting to jump on him. "I bolted out of the pool hall, those guys were chasin' me, and I needed a diversion."

So... He grabbed the first woman and kissed her, while they ran on by, because THIS TOTALLY MAKES SENSE.

Gray is starting to realize how little sense this makes and scratches his head awkwardly. "It made a lot more sense at the time."
