[Backdated to Saturday morning.]Saturday school. It's kind of embarrassing to Tabitha that she's going to Saturday school at all. She didn't really do anything wrong. She doesn't really do things that are wrong. But apparently she won't be allowed to get credit for anything she did this semester if she doesn't show up ( Read more... )

Michael's already there, sitting in a corner and reading, paying no mind to Tabitha or anything else in the room. He has a black eye and a grim expression that's veering on being borderline homicidal. He's missed a month worth of school, but that was excused for 'medical reasons.' In and out of the hospital from two violent attacks- was it any wonder that his father had insisted he get out of the city for a little while, remaining blissfully unaware that those two attacks were provoked by Michael, himself.

He came back crazier with a manic gleam in his eye that replaced his carefully controlled illusion of normalcy. His first day back, he got into a violent altercation with a wanderer who had transferred into one of his classes while he was away.

The school's a little preoccupied with what could make a good boy like Michael turn into such a monster, but Saturday school seemed like a logical way to punish him until they figured something else out.

See? This is why Tabitha does not belong in Saturday school. Maybe she should just drop out and get her GED. Then they won't worry if she's missing school because she's basically dying. She glances warily at Michael, shifting uncomfortably as she pulls her school work out.

Equating her issues with crazy people with black eyes. She's not hurting anyone. Not on purpose at least, and she doesn't like thinking about the number of people she's probably gotten sick.

Right. She should probably stop staring at the boy with the black eye and the crazy look in his eye. That's just going to get her in trouble. Only problem is, she can't.

Michael clears his throat. "Yes, I got into a fight. Yes, I lost. No, I am not going to say you should see what the other boy looks like. And if you make a Fight Club reference, I may have to throw this book at you. I've heard it all of that a number of times since yesterday and I'm tired of it. Now kindly stop gawking at me."

"Part of your face is purple," Zoe points out as she drops into a chair at one of the tables. "It's kind of stupid to expect people not to stare at you."

...Zoe might be a little crankier than usual. She doesn't want to be up this early on a Saturday. It's not even her fault that she's here. Also, she recognizes that kid from after the plagues, and he bothered her then. She's not feeling any more sympathetic toward Mr. Black Eye now.
