Rogue is watching for a while from the branches of a tree. She's come to the park for a bit of quiet, but she doesn't really mind seeing someone else. If anything, she's amused. Loneliness and Rogue are old friends, but not necessarily good ones. Anything that makes her smile a bit is good.
The names shock Rogue a lot more than the rock flipping, and she jumps down, her eyes wide.
There's a hopeful look on her face as she slowly approaches. Stopping about twenty feet away from the woman, she waves a gloved hand tentatively. "Excuse me, please. Do you know Charles Xavier? Do you know where I could find him?" Her voice is a little shaky, so she repeats her questions, just slightly louder.
Bean squeaks and jumps a little when she hears the girl behind her. She turns and stares at her, her eyes going wide. Potato the German Shepherd gets to his feet and crosses in font of Bean, standing and watching Rogue warily.
"You're--!" Bean clamps her mouth shut before she can continue. "Um--sorry, you just startled me. You're, um...looking for Charles Xavier? Um...I..." Bean chews on her lip a little. She doesn't want to lie, but Bean is a huge X-Men fan, and she knows exactly who Rogue is. She doesn't want to just out and tell the poor girl that the whole thing is fictional.
"I, uh...don't think he's here yet? He...might show up someday. Um...by any chance...are you like, new to Chicago?"
Rogue is a bit startled by the girl's reaction and she steps back a couple of steps, holding her hands up, then letting them drop down to her sides. She's not a threat, and she'd like to get that across right away. "I didn't mean to surprise you. My apologies."
At the revelation that the Professor likely isn't here, her face falls slightly, but she nods. "Yeah, I just got here yesterday."
"It's um...an interestin' place here, for sure." Interesting is a word for it. Baffling, unfamiliar, and lonely are all fitting words too. "I'm Rogue, by the way." She doesn't offer her hand, but she does smile. "Are you a telekinetic?"
"Oh, no! It's okay. I was just practicing and you caught me when I was all focused and stuff." She smiles brightly. Bean thought her life was complete when she met Batman. Now X-Men are showing up! And Rogue was always one of her favorites on the show.
"Yesterday? Oh, gosh. Do you have a place to stay yet? The city can get kind of dangerous. Has anyone explained the whole...Rift thing to you yet?"
Bean takes hold of Potato's service dog harness and gives him a little tug backward, then pats his head. Potato can smell Rogue and her ability quite clearly; he's really not sure he wants her near his person, no matter what Bean seems to think.
"Yeah! It's nice to meet you, Rogue! I'm Bean." She looks over at the rock. "Telek--oh, no. I'm an abj--abjurer, that's it. I can make amulets and I'm trying to learn how to banish things."
