I've been jumping from the tops of buildings for the thrill of the fall, ignoring sound advice...

Tosh is in the lobby of the Kashtta, setting up... something electronic behind the reception desk. It's actually a switchboard for the panic button system - there'll be another one going up in the CCTV room, just so they can be certain of someone monitoring it more or less at all times. Mostly, it's just something to focus on, keep her busy, though ( Read more... )

Elizabeth wanders all across the city. The park is a common place for her to run through looking for trouble or someone to help. Typical angel stuff.

It's not until she's a few feet away from the fountain that she notices Zoe. She has not talked to Zoe since the Incident. Elizabeth had been flunking that science class that they shared so she just stopped attending it. It's not that she wouldn't have talked to her had she seen her, but Elizabeth didn't stick to school much and okay, she's been avoiding. What could she say to someone whose sister died with her help?

She stands completely still in front of Zoe. It's amazing how someone can be so filled with movement and excitement, and then be thrown into such stillness. The breeze is blowing enough to make her hair fly up in front of her face, but she doesn't notice.

"Hi Zoe." Her voice has never sounded so small and far away in her head before.

Zoe looks up sharply, blinking at Elizabeth like she's a stranger. It's been so long since she saw her, and the last time being what it was... It's weird now, seeing her again.

"Elizabeth. I... hi." She hunches her shoulders a little, sinking into her sweatshirt. She was angry at Elizabeth for a while - now, she doesn't know how she feels, some bizarre combination of dread and relief at seeing her again. "I didn't think I'd see you here."

Or, you know, ever.

"I tend to be unexpected," Elizabeth says as she glances to the side and slips her fingers into her hair to stop the strands from flying about. "I was just- I like parks. I... like parks, and it's a nice day so."

This is not the most awkward conversation that she's ever had to have. Really. It's not. She doesn't know why she sounds like she's trying to defend her own existence in a park. It's not like she took it as an attack. She is just having trouble functioning in this situation.

"So Tiny... how've you been?"

Zoe shrugs a little. "Okay, I guess. I mean... how am I supposed to be?" She looks down, fiddling with a loose string on the cuff of her sweatshirt. "My parents've been making me see this counselor, but... I can't tell her anything. Not anything real, you know."
