Mike likes the park. He likes to walk around in it. It's familiar, if a big bigger than he remembers.
But when he sees the woman on the bench looking stressed or upset or something... Well. He stops thinking about the park.
Here's what Mike's not good at: comforting people. He stands awkwardly near the bench, hands in his pockets. He clears his throat. "Um, excuse me ma'am," he begins politely. "Are you all right?"
Nyota glanced over, hearing a man speak to her. Not wanting to appear somewhat disheveled she composed herself. "I... believe I am, minus the small detail that I seem to be lost." She let out a small breath, not wanting to appear completely helpless. "Could you possibly tell me where I am?" It looked familiar, but at the same time different.
Mike's eyebrows lower in concern. Lost is not good in Chicago. "You're in Chicago. Illinois. This is a park, um, if you couldn't tell. Grant Park." He squints at her. "Are you sure you're all right?" Because Mike has to check twice.
Hearing Chicago, and more specifically 'Grant Park' caused the lieutenant to perk her eyebrows and allow her eyes to spark in recognition. "Earth." She mused more to herself than to the man she was having a conversation with. Seeing that the man was still rather concerned she gave him a nod. "Yes, I'm all right... thank you for asking." She tried to fight back the slight annoyance, but out of all the people to have run into her she was glad he seemed to be friendly enough.
Seeing him as a man who was offering a helping hand, she decided to introduce herself. "Uhura." Nyota gave him the only name she was willing to give. Inwardly, she reminded herself that it was probably best to find a radio regardless... she needed to get a hold of the Enterprise.
Rachel's been exploring Chicago, and is frustrated to find it's wholly unfamiliar. It has a few things that remind her of Gotham, but it only serves to remind it isn't Gotham.
She goes back to where this nightmare started, sitting on the same bench she sat in before a talking cat came to chew on her shoe (yes, she needs to keep stressing that, no, it will never get old).
Rachel frowns as she spots the woman, immediately concerned. "Are you feeling okay?"
Nyota blinked, looking at the the woman who had sat beside her. "..Yes, I'm feeling fine... just... re-evaluating things." The Lieutenant nodded, giving her present company a small but presentable smile. "..I didnt realize I looked that out of place."
"Oh. Well, maybe not out of place, exactly." That could be just Rachel projecting her own feelings. She definitely feels out of place anywhere that isn't Gotham City. "I'm sorry if I've interrupted you."
"Oh no, its fine.." Nyota leaned back a little, looking at the other woman. She carried herself in a friendly, caring, fashion, but she seemed a little bothered herself. Body language spoke more than actual words at times. She seemed to be an earthling... at least her mannerisms and the way her words formed seemed to match up, besides her appearance. "I hope you dont mind me asking, but are you feeling all right?"
Nyota had spent her idle time looking up at the trees... the birds above here having a conversation. Had she not heard about the Rift and its effect on its 'Wanderers', she would've thought she had lost it. She was focused.... mostly... surprised. Did she honestly understand what the birds were saying? Was that it? Was that the only way she changed?
Her inner dialogue was soon interrupted with a familiar voice. Her heart jumps and she looks down... eagerly looking for the man... or more correctly, the Vulcan, of whom the voice belonged to. Her wide brown eyes fell upon a man instead... with slightly unkempt hair, stubble... no pointed ears. Looking at his eyes, she saw something familiar. He... looked the same, but at the same time, he wasnt.
Seeing as how there was no one else around... how this wasnt a mission in the slightest, she figured titles werent particularly needed. "...Spock...?" Whether it was truly him or not, already she felt a wave of relief.
His body language and the way he formed his words... it had to be Spock. His explanation caused her eyes to widen slightly. He was no longer Vulcan...? And just then it registered exactly what had happened to him on his arrival to Chicago...
Nyota heard the sadness in his voice and walked up to him. Knowing he wouldnt do it first, she wrapped her arms around him and hugged him. He was completely human now, and she could only imagine how difficult it was for him to adjust to it. She knew that at a time of insecurity such as this, humans like to be held.... though a part of her worried that her action was going to make things harder for him.
"I'm glad to see you too." She responded. Though, the fact that he was here and changed concerned her.... maybe there really was no way to get back home.
