It doesn't take the Doctor long to get to the Kashtta - he's usually lurking in that general area when he's not at Martha's house, and since ten minutes ago he was doing nothing better than hovering around the pier vaguely wishing an alien would fall through the rift...

He bounds up the stairs in a couple steps and drops to his knees beside her, resting a hand on her head. "Ruvin? Would you like to go inside?"

She whines again, getting to her feet solely to cram herself against the Doctor's stomach. It doesn't matter. Inside, outside, Robin is still off somewhere hating himself and it's her fault.

I hate this, I hate this, I hate this. Disconsolate puppy noises. She makes them.

The Doctor makes a soft oof noise and ends up sitting on the steps, with a two-hundred pound mastiff trying to crawl into his lap. Well then.

"It's alright," he croons softly, scritching her behind the ears and trying to remain in a position where she's not crushing the air from him. "I'm here, and whatever's wrong, I'll fix it." He'll fix it if he has to go to the mayor's office himself and burn it down.

You can't, she thinks, but the dog is reassured. Ruvin leans into the scritching, letting doggy instinct take front seat again. It's the only way she'll relax enough to think, to remember her way back into her proper shape.

The nasty little voice with which she's become so well acquainted pipes up again. Stay like this and you won't have to deal with questions. Not right now. Stay like this and you won't have to deal with it at all.

It's thinking like that that almost got her stuck last time. Ruvin shakes herself and turns to the door, pawing at it again.

Less than half an hour after Ruvin leaves to send a message to her girlfriend, said girlfriend comes skidding up to the front of the Kashtta. Her wings our out, her hair is escaping its ponytail, and she's out of breath like she'd run here all the way from the Conrad.

Which... she sorta did. Not the whole way, she had to stop a couple times, but pretty much the whole way.

She wasn't going to wait for a car.

She opens the door and steps into blessed air conditioning, gasping to catch her breath. And when she finally does, she stops and looks around.

"Woah," she whispers to herself. "Big building." Right. She has to find her girlfriend and make sure she's okay. "Ruvin?" she calls hesitantly, not too loudly. Maybe she should've asked where in the building Ruvin was...

Ruvin caught sight of herself in one of the windows on her way down to the lobby--blood, all over her face, when did that happen? So when Dusty comes in, Ruvin is busy scrubbing one sleeve across the lower half of her face to try and get some of it off. Thus, why she doesn't answer immediately.

That and she finds herself suddenly shy.

"Over here," she says, still muffled behind her sleeve. She's sitting on the steps, still wearing the oversized sweatshirt the Doctor found, in a position that somehow feels characteristic at this point--a little ball of Ruvin, chin on her knees.

It's... not what Dusty's used to from Ruvin, no, but Dusty's not one to stop and question these things. She'll cling first and ask questions later.

She runs up and sits a step below Ruvin, so she can look at her, and immediately frowns, worried. "You were bleeding? What happened?" Okay, maybe not all questions later. Some questions now.

"I... don't really remember." She frowns at the blood on her sleeve, tries to think back and figure it out, but it's like running her fingertips over something smooth and elastic and really, it doesn't matter anyway. "I don't remember very much, actually."

That should bother her more than it does, shouldn't it? That's why she came here in the first place. She hugs her legs, feeling more scared for no reason than she ever has, feeling like there should be something there to tell her that, no matter what, it will be all right.

"Dusty?" It comes out small and uncertain, and she feels like she did when Robin hugged her by the fire--like she's lost something, without knowing what.
