Wine's been poured and thank the Lord I've had the napkins freshly pressed... [Party-Thread]

Grant Park, on any other day, could be called just a nice little park (or EPIC PARK, seeing as how it appears to have eaten Chicago) where people see other people and other people exercise and some people from different universes fall into Chicago ( Read more... )

Adrian creeps into the outskirts, keeping a wary eye on Gladys from across the clearing. He has his guitar case in one hand, because he thought, you know, it's a party. Parties need music. Mostly he's looking for Rachel, because if Gladys gets to him before someone familiar does he might just run for his life.

...He's not scared of the hyperactive little old lady, really.

He rocks her back and forth, trying very, very hard not to start laughing again. "You poor, poor little Catholic girl."

Adrian rests his nose against her hair. "I didn't know you were that religious. Does it really not bother you? Angels and demons?"

Rachel lets out a sigh and drops her hands. "I'm not," she says softly. She nestles a bit closer as Adrian rocks her, shrugging. "I mean, I guess not, not anymore? But when I was growing up my family was, hardcore. And, like. Things stuck with me. I dunno."

She's quiet for a few moments. "We went to church a lot. I mean, a lot, a lot. It was all we had, sometimes. I really liked our parish priest. I looked up to him a lot when I was a kid. I think... I think he wanted to help us. He was always looking out for us, 'cause my mom... just didn't."

Rachel stops there; she doesn't offer any further elaboration. After a minute she shrugs and steps back a bit. "Anyway. Sorry. For spazzing or whatever. That's what I get for reading stuff out of context, I guess."

His arms tighten around her for a moment before she steps back. The implications there make him deeply unhappy. "Don't worry about it, mija. It happens to the best of us, as you've just proved."

Adrian winks. When all else fails, flirt.

Rachel shoves it all down, as always, a perfectly untroubled expression on her upturned face when she looks up at Adrian.

...At least, until he winks at her. She reddens all over again, and raises a hand to her face (though she's laughing).

"...Mijo. That does not help right now, okay?"

You're so cute when you're blushing, Rachel. Makes him want to kiss you, but it's rather public, first off, and secondly, well. If winking at her right now doesn't help, kissing her...

"And I am so fond of being helpful."

Rachel laughs again, tucking her hair behind her ears and shaking her head. "Yes," she shoots back, bemused, teasing. "Yes, you are."
