and I feel that time's a wasted go [open]

Tick. Tick. Tick-tick-tick.

He feels the heat just around the exact same time that something pulls him out and away from the explosion. It starts at his core and yanks him back, almost like the way a toy does when someone tugs out its string - slowly winding back until it makes contact with something and then spinning in and in and around.

Maybe it's not so much a ticking but more of a throbbing sensation in her head. It doesn't hurt but it feels like it's pushing at her temples at a steady rhythm but she's doing her best to ignore it. She doesn't like the chill in the center of her being but she tells herself it's normal. She's not normal anymore, right?

She's near the fountain, approaching quickly, when she spots someone getting out of the water. She can't see who it is right away, so she doesn't turn and run like she would have done at one time.

No. You wouldn't run. Why run?

She ignores the whisper as she gets closer, her brows drawing together as she swears she recognizes the shape of the shoulders but it can't be. "Hey, are you okay?" She calls out, glancing around as she slows her steps a little. Maybe another Wanderer has arrived?

He straightens up, squares his shoulders at the sound of a voice. That voice - he knows that voice all too well, and a smile slowly makes its way over his features, sincere and sinister all at the same time. He doesn't turn around right away, though. Instead, he lets out a sigh into the open air, and he turns just in time to greet the person inquiring about his well-being.

"Oh, I'm just fine," he promises her, lips still twisted into that wicked grin.

"Just fine and dandy."

No.

Before he even starts to turn around, she feels a little sick to her stomach while curling her fingers inwards to make fists at her sides. Of course this place was cruel enough to bring him here. She knows that people can arrive from different times since she had just met a guy from 1992 but the question was what year or time was it was for the new arrival.

Her eyes narrow as he turns around to face her and the look is cold as she manages a huff of a broken laugh.

"Of course, of everyone that can show up here, you have to show up. Now it's official, this place sucks."

His brow furrows slightly as she talks, and he tilts his head, almost as if he's listening to something off in the distance that seems to drown out her words. But he can hear her - he can hear them both, actually, and he only smiles wider when she stops.

"I don't know if I'd go that far," he admits. "Think of it like this: this place was lacking something that only I could provide."

Elle is out exploring for one of the first times since she's arrived in this strange version of Chicago. And she can't help but find her way back to the place she originally came in, that fountain. Her leg is mostly healed and she's wearing her own clothes thanks to Sam(pretty simple stuff, but it'll do until she figures out a job)so there's at least that to be glad of.

Her blue eyes blink a little as she noticed someone land into the fountain. This is her first time witnessing an arrival since her own, and she approaches carefully. Her body stiffens as she realizes who it is and her face contorts in anger. The last time she had seen him, he had been about to kill her.

Of all the people from her world, it had to be him.

Her hands clench at her sides, filling with bright blue electricity, just in case. The sky rumbles slightly at her temper. "What the hell are you doing here?"

He's just out of the water when he hears the crackle of electricity, and in the same instant, he's on his guard, tracking her movements in his periphery long before he turns around.

A finger twitches at his side.

"I could ask you the same thing," he says, turning very slowly to face her.

There isn't even a moment of hesitation before Elle lets out a blast of electricity toward him. Sure, it'll heal, but at least it'll hurt him in the process. She knew from personal experience that water and her electricity made for a painful combination.

"I ended up here about a week ago," She snaps, bringing a hand up to tap against the light scar on her forehead. "Right before you could finish killing me, isn't that convenient?"

It does hurt, but he's definitely felt this kind of energy from her, this kind of pain. It's recently fresh, to him, but it catches him off-guard, and he staggers back, hissing through his teeth.

It dissolves into a laugh.

"Kill you?" he asks. "I never killed you. Not saying I won't now, but it's a false accusation for then."
