By 4:45, the protesters who started at Grant Park have marched past the ruins of old City Hall, stopped for a speech, and then forged on to mass across from the building which houses the legislature at the moment - across because there's a handful of police just to make sure that everything goes smoothly

Martin noticed a guy who'd either brought or picked up a baseball bat from somewhere. That guy emphatically did not need a baseball bat in this crowd, in Martin's opinion. He ended up with a swift punch to the kidneys and no more baseball bat, and right now Martin's wading through the crowd. There's not a lot of room to swing the bat, but it's better than nothing, and he's a lot stronger than any of the humans here ( ... )

A fact she didn't really consider or care about, and one she still doesn't really care about. She's busy, as it were--adrift on the flood of emotion, overwhelmed and carried off by the ferocity of the crowd. A man three times her size at least grabs the front of her coat and lifts her off her feet.
"Freak!"
"It's awash, a wish... Wishywash?"
He slaps her. She blinks at him.
"Ow."

"The fuck is wrong with you? She's a freak! Look at her! This is her fault!"
Cy chirps, her eyes focusing a bit. "...you're stupid."
He punches her in the stomach and Cy grabs his wrist, chomping down on his hand with abnormally sharp teeth.

She winces as the guy hits the pale girl and she quickly darts forward, taking advantage of the distraction as she swings her weapon and aims for the guy's legs. Might as well take him down since he's bigger than the both of them.
And hopefully he'll let go of the girl as he falls.

The only reason she's outside at all is because she really needs a new set of markers. And her taco supply's starting to run low. She's pulled on a hooded sweatshirt, glasses off for once as she moves quickly through the streets, trying to backtrack the number of paces to the familiar taco stand she and Faith had stopped at the other day.
It's not until she rounds the corner that she hears the screaming from the megaphone, and the trickling groups of people immediately turn into a much, much bigger crowd.
The sound of shattering glass a few feet away causes her to jump and inadvertently knock into a person next to her - someone as eager to get away as she is by this point, most likely. His face hardens, thinking their collision was intentional on her part, and he shoves her back, sending her to the ground - hard.
She struggles to her feet, looking around at the chaos that's starting to erupt, and tries to keep her composure.

"Best be going home, luv. Too much scum on the streets for people to be out unless they're looking for a good kicking."
From the way he's glaring at the angry mob, it's likely that he's thinking of doing a bit of kicking, himself. Fucking CLF. They're nothing but cowards and terrorists, every last one of the bastards.

She looks up at the man standing there, watches him watching the crowd.
"I suppose I should've checked to see if there was goin' to be any riotin' today," she says, unaware of her attempt at humor.
