She was in a slight drug-induced haze when she felt it. That tug, that pull that insistent you're needed! in the back of her head.
And so, without a single thought, she spread her wings to help her speed (she doesn't like to fly, though she knows she can - it doesn't seem right that she, of all people, should get that gift), and she runs.
"Ricky!" She's pelting down the pier as fast as she can, panicked.
She can't let him do this. She can't let Brando down like that.
Ricky looks up at the sound of his name. He slides his other leg around, but he's still holding on to the railing, feet underneath it and on the pier, but the rest of him above the water.
"Why can't you just leave me alone?" His voice strains with the emotion flooding him.
She gets within a few feet and skids to a stop, panting. "Sorry. I just... even if I can't... change your mind, I have to be here. It's a thing. My job and all."
"Right. Your... job. Look it's just really hard to do this when somebody's watchin'." Especially when they're watching like she is right now, with an expression that makes him second guess himself.
When he's alone, it's a lot easier to think that jumping's the right thing.
"Can't you... at least... turn around or somethin'?"
