Oh, you'll never see my shade or hear the sound of my feet.... [locked]

Gabe hasn't gotten out much over the past couple of weeks. Mainly because his mother found one of his leftover fliers and grounded him after she heard the rant.

("Do you want me to have to bury both of you? Is that your plan, David?"But she's at work now, so she won't know he's run out. Won't know he's lurking across the street from the Conrad, ( Read more... )

The Doctor may not be what Gabe's looking for, but he might just be a slightly familiar face, at least.

He walks out of the Conrad looking a good deal less cheerful than when he went in early this morning. What he looks, really, is distant and cold and thoughtful - and a little bit shaken, to anyone who knows him, but that's only if you know what to look for. His hands in his pockets, he steps out through the front doors and starts down the street, head down, frowning to himself, and doesn't notice the young demon hanging around, watching the hotel a little too intently.

Oh, that's a familiar face, alright.

("How is your brother, by the way? Haven't had a chance to go in and see the patients just yet.")

That's a face memorized from just before all hell broke loose at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

("Still, no harm done, right?")

Oh, there was plenty harm done, you son of a bitch. He can feel the tension in his back, wings wanting to break free from wherever they hide-
but not now. Not where others could see him, stop him.

So he follows the other man, sticking to the shadows when he can, hoping to get farther from the hotel before he's noticed.

The Doctor starts off in a not-entirely random direction. His first instinct is to turn toward the pier, but no, it's getting to the time of day when there will be people there. He'd rather be by himself for a while. And so he turns south, in a very specific direction. It's not unusual that he heads in that direction when he's in this mood...

After a while, he ducks into an alley to take a shortcut, not noticing that he has a shadow just now. It's been a long while since the Doctor's worried about being attacked on the street - and he didn't even worry that much when it was an actual concern. Now, it doesn't even cross his mind.

So 'Doctor Smith' - and why did he trust that badge? Because he was too worried to consider it was a fake? - obviously isn't all that smart, ducking down an alley. Either that or he hasn't watched enough cop shows to remember what tends to happen when somebody does that.

Of course, what Gabe is forgetting is that alleys? Tend to have a lot of junk scattered all over. Perfect for winding up underfoot if you're not paying attention and getting kicked away with a loud enough clatter to let the other guy know that, yeah, there's somebody behind you.
