He walks out of the Conrad looking a good deal less cheerful than when he went in early this morning. What he looks, really, is distant and cold and thoughtful - and a little bit shaken, to anyone who knows him, but that's only if you know what to look for. His hands in his pockets, he steps out through the front doors and starts down the street, head down, frowning to himself, and doesn't notice the young demon hanging around, watching the hotel a little too intently.

That's a face memorized from just before all hell broke loose at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
("Still, no harm done, right?")
Oh, there was plenty harm done, you son of a bitch. He can feel the tension in his back, wings wanting to break free from wherever they hide-
but not now. Not where others could see him, stop him.
So he follows the other man, sticking to the shadows when he can, hoping to get farther from the hotel before he's noticed.

After a while, he ducks into an alley to take a shortcut, not noticing that he has a shadow just now. It's been a long while since the Doctor's worried about being attacked on the street - and he didn't even worry that much when it was an actual concern. Now, it doesn't even cross his mind.

Of course, what Gabe is forgetting is that alleys? Tend to have a lot of junk scattered all over. Perfect for winding up underfoot if you're not paying attention and getting kicked away with a loud enough clatter to let the other guy know that, yeah, there's somebody behind you.
