It would be very comforting for him to hear someone speak in Hindi for a little while at least.

She trails off, blinking. Oh. Well. "That's... really cool too," she says. "So wait, you like, lived on a train? How did you... how did you manage that? I mean, I guess I could live on one if I really tried..."

Apparently they had the occassionaly person speaking French on the trains, too. He has no idea what that word means though, just that French people use it.
"Lived on top the train," he explains, because it's any sort of explanation at all to say that they lived on top of it. "Money. Food. People. All on train. Good life."
Better than living with Maman.
