At high noon the CLF strikes again.

Five black vans meet at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Congress Parkway and park to obstruct traffic. The leader van pulls up under one of the streetlights and men get out, wearing plain clothing and ski masks. They pull another figured from the car, struggling, with a bag over his head, his body ( Read more... )

Ruvin runs flat out from the Conrad holding a fire axe and screaming like she wants to tear the world to pieces. She doesn't care that they've already come after her once. She doesn't care how much people will hate her for saving someone that looks like a monster, for even trying to save him.

This is too much. Too much. She barrels through the watchers, the gawkers, these disgusting creatures that purport to call themselves human beings, and attacks the ropes holding Raziel aloft.

"Monsters! Monsters! Why are you doing this? I hate you! I hate you! Leave us alone!"

Dusty saw her heading out. With an axe. And... well, she shouldn't be going out alone, right? And she looked upset, so someone might be hurt.

Somehow, it doesn't cross her mind to get an adult. She can't let Ruvin run out there on her own. It would be too dangerous. So Dusty takes off after her. It's not hard to find the commotion, it's just at one of the intersections by Grant Park.

"Ruvin!" She races up, though not too fast (her wings are in), and grabs the rope above where Ruvin is hacking at it. "Hang on, you might hurt him!"

Raziel has had worse days than this. Unfortunately they've mostly come while he was burning in the Pit.

His strength alone has failed to free him from this indignity, and when he sees the two girls attempting to free him he ceases his struggles immediately. A clout from his cleft feet or claws could injure them severely and he isn't willing to risk that.

"While I appreciate your efforts, you're putting yourselves in grave danger," he says, voice low and fast. "Whoever these creatures are, they hunt among the parks and streets like a pack of dogs. You should not allow them to catch your scent."

Ace has been patrolling these last few days, looking for the CLF, noting graffiti wherever she spots it. She's heard about some of the violence, but has yet to witness any, which is what her goal truly is--find some actual members, grab them and wring as much information out of them as possible ( ... )
