«Man grows used to everything, the scoundrel.»

Into the Conrad Hotel lobby walks an archangel bundled up in an old leather jacket, scarf, and hat against the winter chill. And 5'10" he's not terribly impressive for an archangel, but this takes into account the slightly crooked way in which he holds himself - all while giving the impression that he's holding himself as perfectly straight as he ( Read more... )

Vincent's in the lobby for no particular reason other than he's keeping an eye out for Tay and her friend, just in case Tay didn't think to keep up with her keycard. He's wearing a long coat to cover his wings, because after dealing with a manic Rakshasa come through the Rift, you tend to get too tetchy to pull them back in.

He notes the man at the front desk, registers him as an angel (and given the build- he'd assume archangel) and strolls over, snapping his fingers to get the receptionist's attention. He's well-known around here and he's friends with Ariel. "I'll take this one." To Ivan, he offers a hand. "Vincent Sterling. Now I don't exactly run things around here, but I can get you where you're goin'."

Aha! And now, he's getting somewhere.

Ivan gives Vincent a pleasant smilelet, taking his hand warmly. Coolly. They're both angels; he can tell that even without his wings out, and that points toward someone who knows what he's doing.

"Ivan," he says. "Ivan Volkovich. Good to meet you." A prominant Russian accent suffuses everything, but he articulates very well. "I am told that this is a good place for lodgings, is it right?"

Vincent gives his hand a friendly, firm shake. "You've heard right, my friend." He doesn't recognize the name, but, well, far be it for Vince to know every archangel in the world- mostly he just sticks to knowing his kids or the ones on active duty or the ones Mitzi sends his way.

"It's a bit sparse right now, but we're tryin' to bring it back. The wanderers got a little spooked when we were usin' it for command central durin' the... Harsher times, but now that everything's settled back down, we're tryin' to turn it back into what it was."

Or, well, he's sure that's what Ariel wants to do. He's really just the guy who runs the archangels.

He waves a hand in the direction of the elevators. "Shall we?" Hopefully, Tay and Buffy won't show up until after he's finished here.

"Ah, yes." Ivan nods, indicating that Vincent should take the lead. "I heard about the... harsher times. To be honest they didn't concern me." He raises his cane a little, indicating it with the clear implication that he wasn't in a state to get sucked into anyone's shock assault team. "And wanderers... do not bother me."

That's a concern with some archangels.

"Mostly these days, I am one who trains the other soldiers," he appends. "But one does whatever one is needed to do."
