Wish I was as big as you, you'd have to tell the truth...

Tosh is wandering the tower. Except that wandering is generally a little more... random. Anyone who happened to notice what Tosh is doing right now might consider it more like a search pattern. The robot's good at being unobtrusive when it wants to be, but Tosh can sense it, at least enough to narrow its location down to a certain section of the ( Read more... )

As it turns out, the robot actually isn't avoiding anyone. Just... not going out of its way to make contact. It's sitting by the backmost (and least-used) elevator on the seventh floor, tinkering with a few different components culled from here and there and what looks to be Jack's old sonic pistol. The one whose cartridges he used up on a wandering Judge ages ago. That one.

The pistol might not function as a pistol any more, but it's being industriously repurposed. The robot might not have the technical knowhow to recreate its own arm blaster, but it's about a third of the way to constructing a functional (if inelegant) energy weapon of some kind. And given that its right arm seems to be held together in a cast of duct tape, well, we have some idea as to how it plans to install the thing.

Tosh turns a corner and smiles tightly when she sees it, and as she approaches the thing she reaches out with her ability, not digging into the programming but getting a general feel for the current processes and commands, something that should at least give her a few seconds' warning before it takes any action.

She doesn't bother with preamble before approaching it, just says, "You told me you were programmed through literal physical interface. What does that mean, exactly?" She realizes now that she probably should have gotten around to asking that earlier. Much, much earlier. She had other things on her mind, though, and... Well, she's not letting it go now that she's had some time to think about it.

The robot scans her. Then it starts poking at its scrapped-together auxiliary weapons system again.

{This unit has a number of internal input terminals with program access to core functionality. Access to these terminals is restricted. This unit was programmed via direct psychic interface ID 462O1:C24A401 and literal physical interface before deployment to: Organization: Torchwood.}

Tosh glances down to the weapon it's constructing, and then back up to its face. "And some of your commands come from those internal input terminals." It's not really a question. She felt that, that day at the hardware store. "It's not a part of the programming that was installed before you came here. Who or what has access to the internal terminals?"
