You can't run away forever, but there's nothing wrong with getting a good head start...

Lesya's not a new face in Chicago, although chances are even the most intrepid explorers of the city hadn't seen her before. Hidden in shadows, darting from one place to the next, barely surfacing in order to meet certain needs for survival, this Wanderer's flown under the radar for a while. Penny has had a passion for helping homeless people for several years now. She can recognize someone who is homeless almost instantly. Penny walks up to her, slowly, careful not to startle the girl. She may be unconsciously sending out slightly calming pheromones right now. Penny still doesn't have the best control over her power.

"Hello," she says, softly, and smiles, leaning against the railing a half foot away from the girl so she hopefully won't be frightened away.

Lesya tenses as she feels the woman approaching, but after a certain point, she finds it easier to relax around her. Not because she's forcing herself (although she is), but...there seems to be something that's relaxing her quicker than she would have on her own. Perhaps she's one of the people she's waiting for?

"Hello," Lesya says softly, her voice tinged with a thick Ukrainian accent. She grips the railing to keep herself steady, to make sure she continues to stay put.

"I like coming out to the pier. It's nice to look at the water even when it's as cold as it is today," Penny says, and then turns toward the poor girl and smiles. "It sounds like you're a long way from home."

She inches herself just a little closer. "I'm Penny."

Lesya looks down at the water again, at the lights reflecting off of it. "I like the city lights," she says softly. "I am...very far from home. You don't see things like this where I am from." And that's probably the most Lesya's spoken in three years.

She looks up at Penny for a moment, then back down at the water, noticing her getting closer, and pulling her arms closer in toward herself. "I'm Lesya," she says.
