My fellow traveller's vacant stares leave it up to you to care

Once Mattie had been determined physically better from his gunshot wound, the heal time helped along by the TARDIS' equipment and his natural angel tendency to heal quickly, he was moved back into the Kashtta, to his familiar room, in hopes that the familiar surroundings would help him get a handle on reality again ( Read more... )

Suzie's up and about, and trying to ignore the fact that she knows she's being watched. If it's not a tiny psychic girl stalking her, it's surveillance via CCTV.

Still, encountering Mat in the halls is a pleasant surprise.

"Hello," she says, trying to ignore the fact that she broke down sobbing on him not that long ago.

Ignore away, Suzie. He doesn't really remember that part. He remembers... her voice. And little bits of poetry. That's mostly it, though he also feels a strong urge to hug her.

He sort of grimaces in what might have been an attempt at smiling. "I... I'm looking for..." he trails off, a little lost. For a moment, he can't remember who or what he's looking for. "Sam," he decides finally. "I can't... I can't find him."

Oh, sweetheart...

She doesn't know if it'll help or hurt things if he sees Sam, but it's not her place to judge.

"I'll help you find him, if you'd like," she offers.

There's no shadow following behind him. He's awake, aware, though his mind isn't up for being exceedingly coherent just yet. Nothing held back. "I..." He frowns a little, trying to think. It's difficult. "You... you read me poems."

Andy did stop by the TARDIS to see Mat. once. He was either sleeping or comatose, so she didn't stay long, but she still recognizes him on sight and oh, natural sympathy and horrified empathy (losing a ward for God's sake - she's only had one for a week or so and still she can't imagine it) combine to have someone a good foot and change shorter than Mat running up and taking his hand.

"Mat Wallace?" she asks, in what she hopes isn't too much a paramedic's voice. She tries to soften it with a smile. "I'm Andy. I'm another Guardian Angel. Do you want to sit down somewhere? Have some tea or cocoa?" She stops before asking if they should make scones or if he'd like a warm blanket. Probably best not to totally overload him.

Mat jumps a little, and blinks down at the other angel in confusion for a moment, having to take some time to process her words and figure out what they all mean.

"Oh," he says slowly. "I... I'm looking for... for... Sam." That seems right. Yes. "Looking for Sam."

"I know, sweetie," Andy says, taking one of his hands. He just lost a connection. Contact might help.

After a moment's pause, she reaches up to her headset and taps it, giving a quiet "Sam? If there's nothing urgent going on, I think Mat would like to see you. I'm going to try to take him to the lounge," and letting go of the talk button. It might not be the intended use for the headset, but if there's no emergency... well, it might help. Reassurance or closure or something.

"I think you should sit down, okay?" she says, giving Mat a gentle tug. "We'll see about Sam. Can you come with me?"

Lounges are good. Out of the way, full of soft things, a nice friendly controllable environment.

Mat doesn't really give much thought to her holding his hand. In fact, he closes his big hand around hers tightly, much like a little kid who's lost his parents or babysitter or something.

"Yeah," he says, nodding slowly and chewing his lip. "S-sit."
