In Chicago, there is a bank. In fact, there are many banks in Chicago. This one is noteworthy in the fact that it houses Black December, the Organization's infamous terrorist cell, which means it only looks like an ordinary bank in theory. Inside... Well, okay, it's still an ordinary bank until you realize that the main elevators only go up seven ( Read more... )

This will not be the first time Sydney has woken up handcuffed to a chair after being drugged. That doesn't make it pleasant, and her head's spinning when she comes to.

She doesn't move at first, to the extent that she can avoid it, though there's a slight tensing of her muscles that she can't much help, barely noticable if you're watching closely. No obvious injuries. Handcuffs on her wrists. Not much noise other than the slight, soft whirring of something electronic nearby, maybe a computer.

Still not moving, keeping her breathing as even as possible, she opens her eyes slowly, glancing around the room from under hooded eyelids. What. The hell. Is going on?

Oh look, Pigtails is awake! Cole bounds over to her with a certain unsteady gait and drags over a swivel chair, which he promptly sits in backwards, keeping about a two foot distance between them. Not that she can lash out like this, but, you know. He's sort of learned not to underestimate her since the last time she kicked his ass... Which, in true Cole fashion, really made him love her more.

It's quite possible that Cole's views of romance are even more fucked up than Sark's. Who would have thought that was possible?

"Betcha didn't think you'd ever see me again, didja, Pigtails?" He grins in a manner that might be adorable if, you know, you were the sort of person who found creepy things hiding under logs adorable.

He's going to be so disappointed when she has no idea who he is. Not that this is new for him.

Well, so much for that. Sydney sighs and lifts her head, tossing hair out of her face with the movement, and just stares at him for a moment. Pigtails? What the... She's really got to stop asking that question. It's clearly not doing her any good today.

"In my experience, it's really hard to expect to see someone again without meeting them in the first place," she answers calmly, shifting her wrists experimentally. Unsurprisingly, absolutely no give there. She sighs a little. Great. Just great. She should have guessed it was something like this, because this is just her life, isn't it?

Usually the people from her future don't drug her and handcuff her to chairs, though. That's a new one.

Given that none of the actual elevators will go to the eighth floor, Sark's found himself in a special elevator with two guards, one of which has his shotgun. He's not happy- acid sprinklers and being ambushed and having your friends (can he call Michael and Fiona friends? Is he doing that now?) threatened, all for the sake of some madman's selfish whims is enough to make him thoroughly pissed off.. Moreso than he already was anyway ( ... )

April has already lit up, feeling him there, just there and with his team and everything. They're going to get out this time. She's not sure how yet, she's not even sure if Julian's sure yet, but she knows they will.

Everything she's been through, and April is still an optimist.

There's still that edge in her eye, though - the killing instinct, the thirst for blood. Cole's blood. It's not exactly a welcome addition, but it's better than being broken, now isn't it.

"I knew you'd come," she says with a smile.

Sark's really resenting his own gun in his back, but when he takes a step closer to April, Cole doesn't follow. Like Cole's actually going to shoot him, though. He needs him too much in some sick, obsessive way.

He drops down on his knees in front of her, holding back more than he can describe. This is not how he wants to see her again, but at least she's not bleeding and not broken. At least this time, no one's going to lose, not unless this really goes sour. At any rate, she's getting out of here if it's the last thing he does. He let her go once and he swore to whoever there was to swear to that he wasn't going to lose her again. When he said he wanted a second chance, he never realized how literal that was going to be.

It takes him a long time to actually say anything, he just gently strokes her cheek, tries to ignore that instinct he can see in her eyes, and then kisses the top of her head, before whispering two words in her ear in Mandarin. "Just watch."This plan he has in his head is going to be... He doesn't know what it's ( ... )
