Has anyone ever read you a fairy tale?

So. Becky hasn't seen her big brother thing in a long time. Oh, she's exchanged a journal note here and there, but... well, she misses him. And Annie keeps talking about going someplace warmer (or warm at all), so she doesn't want to leave town without some quality sibling time ( Read more... )

Des has learned that there is a knack or possibly a certain amount of skill associated with dealing with doors and not having music play in your face or the face of whoever happens to be visiting. So when he throws open the door... There's a little hokey pokey involved making sure he doesn't step into the doorway again.

"Beeecks!" He grins. "I'd hug you, but doorways are problematic, so you're going to have to- Is that beer? Am I promoting underage drinking by not demanding where you got it simply because I like beer and would like to drink it?" He pauses, shrugs, and throws open his arms. "Oh just get in here so I can hug you, kiddo."

Des has missed his little sisterthing! Sure he has several of them, but Becky was the first.

Becky laughs a little, startled, and steps in, putting the stuff in her hands down so she can give Des a proper hug. Oh she missed him. "You're ridiculous," she says, her voice muffled a little by his shirt. "Why are doorways problematic?"

Yep. Missed him.

Des hugs her back in a proper bear hug. "The Doctor poked That Which Should Never Be Poked, and I have to suffer for it," he responds petulantly. "You'll see in a minute."

Because he's going to have to walk through at least one door anyway. Dammit. Stupid house and it's need for doors.

He holds her away from him so he can get a good look at her. "You're looking good, Becks! How are you doing these days? The Gauche treating you well?"

She won't laugh. She doesn't even know what it is yet, but her instinct is to just laugh and she won't do that.

Yet.

"It's going pretty good. Had coffee with Charlie a couple weeks back, and Annie played a scrum match the other day. We might go to Cabo for the rest of the winter, she doesn't like the cold much." She's talking like they're together. Maybe it'll take a trip to Cabo to get them to realise they're together. "What about you? Liking domestic life and all that?"
