You whom I could not save, Listen to me…

On the TARDIS, who's still watching over everyone, not letting Thane's former prisoners out and probably driving Hart halfway to madness with the unrelenting psychic Ò_Ó she's giving him, people are doing various things.

The Vesmier is ensconced in the Cloister Room, on a bench with his back resting against a wall, a multiphasic holographic ( Read more... )

Strictly speaking, Juliet probably could have found Owen long before now, but she kept getting distracted, which... Admittedly, isn't the best thing to do when you have a patient in desperate need of pulmonary surgery, but April's condition didn't require it immediately anyway.

Either way, she walks into the infirmary with the intent of cornering him with a copy of April's x-rays... Actually, she just has the scanner with April's chest x-ray saved into it, so it's not a technical x-ray, but whatever.

"I need your help with something... Please." There's a sober look in her eyes that says, in no uncertain terms, that she'd prefer if he could do it without being an ass, but that might be too much to ask. Granted, she's banking on him being bored and needing something to do than him actually accepting out of the kindness of his heart.

Owen glances at her, then takes the scanner with a raised eyebrow. He hasn't had people actually working under him in a long time, and someone coming to defer to him in a medical situation isn't... a bit odd ( ... )

"That would have been my guess," Juliet shrugs, frowning a little bit. "I only did general surgery in my residency, so this is out of my element, but..."

She trails off, shaking her head a bit. "Well, I'm hoping you being more familiar with advanced surgical technology and procedure, you might be able to pull it off without it being too damaging to her."

That's not flattery, that is an honest statement of fact. It took her three hours just to figure out how to call up April's x-ray on the scanner so she didn't look like an idiot.

Owen looks the scan over again. "Well, that'll depend on what we can drudge up here, won't it? Not as though we have a stocked OR here, except for all this alien technology. I could probably learn how to work that," he says, and that might or might not be boasting - he's Torchwood, alien technology is alien, they work things out. "Given a bit of time or a manual. Might be about to corner one of our Time Lords about that. See if they're more useful on something that isn't Thane."

Okay, yes, they got the prisoners out. And so far, that's all Owen's willing to say for them. And from what he hears, that was as much Descant as their little circle of geniuses. Owen Harper is Not Impressed.

The Doctor likes the Cloister Room. He's not in it often, not for... a while now, and the Cloister Room here is different from the one in his TARDIS, but that's hardly the point. If anyone asked, he's not looking for the Vesmier, but he does wander by, and then stop, tilting his head to frown at the hologram.

"Thank you," he says at length. "For... you know... getting them out." Himself, he's not so sure about.

The Vesmier sets aside the hologram for a moment, letting it collapse into sleep mode. He looks older than his thousand years, at the moment - still a young Time Lord, but not feeling it.

"It was apparently the most I could do," he says. He won't chide the Doctor for inflicting the damage that made it impossible for him to do more. He can't speak to the Doctor's position.

Which leaves him here, studying the mechanisms - such as they are - in Thane's mind. Wondering if he can come up with a solution, or if there is a solution to come up with before the Rani completes her phage.

The Doctor's silent for a moment, looking at the Vesmier, and then trying not to look at him as he glances around the rest of the Cloister Room, and finally he says, "I'm sorry."

Apologies aren't exactly unexpected, if you know the Doctor - he does this sort of thing, whether it's actually necessary or not - but this is... just a little different. He still hasn't sorted out... most of what happened, it just seems like the appropriate reaction. He's probably got something to apologize for.

The Vesmier takes that in, wondering what and how much the Doctor's apologies mean. His own Doctor is so different - never tends to apologise, not like this one; tends, as they both do, toward arguments more than this. And that would make the Vesmier more comfortable, really, right now - he's firmly in the Doctor's territory in all these crises and conflicts, and the fact that the Doctor doesn't seem to know what to do doesn't help.

After a while, he sighs. "As am I," he says, because regardless of his own thoughts and convictions, he hasn't been able to bring this to a close either.

Tosh isn't better, but she's good at pretending, and after a while curled up in a den with the TARDIS for company, she's ready to come out. If only to check on... certain people and make sure they're still alive.

She stops for a second just outside the door of the infirmary, takes a breath, and then steps inside. Owen gets a momentary glance before she pointedly avoids looking at him and... She brightens a little when she notices Dmitri. "You're awake!"

Dmitri pulls her head up at that. It's a Toshiko! A Toshiko who is, at the very least, ambulatory!

Which momentarily makes her forget that she is not ambulatory herself.

"Tosh!" she says, and makes to get up - and makes it about a step and a half before deciding that where she needs to be is a step and a half back. Which is where she winds up, just as Owen turns to see if he needs to put her on a leash, or something. "...urk. Hey, моя красивая книжка. God, it's good to see you."

Tosh winces a little, seeing the moment where Dmitri realizes being upright is not the best idea. "Don't... You probably shouldn't be standing." She pauses a moment, glances around to locate a chair, and pulls it up so she can sit down close to Dmitri. "I'm glad you're alright."

Well. Alright is not even close to the word she wanted, and she realizes it the moment she says it, but... She's awake and talking, and Tosh was afraid to even hope for that much before.

Upright is difficult, but diagonal is not so bad. This, at least, is Dmitri's theory, as she leans over to give Tosh a less-awkward-than-one-might-think sitting hug.

"We're resilient, angels," she says, because at least she's always been resilient before. It seems like at least long habit should account for something. "Takes more than a few knocks on the skull to keep me down. And how about you, mijn das? Holding up?"
