A Bored Mad Scientist? This Bodes No Well

Doc Brown is restless and bored. He hasn't really done much of anything for a while except work on the designs to what will hopefully be a time machine one day, and now he figures he needs a break. He loves his Science, but there's only so much even he can take ( Read more... )

Aiden is horribly bored as well. And that's not an easy thing to accomplish in his case. He's usually quite able to entertain himself.

Not so today it would seem. So he heads down to the lobby, hoping to find someone to talk to (or bother, depending on how the person sees Aiden's interaction with them). And as he sees Doc getting up from his chair, pacing, and then sitting back down again, he smiles a bit and wanders over.

"Bored?" he inquires lightly. He gets the feeling. He reaaally does.

Doc looks over at the man with a slight grimace. "Yes," he says with a sigh. "I haven't had nearly enough to do in a while. Those rooms get restrictive if you stay in them too long." Doc's used to mansions and fairly large garages as homes. A small hotel room feels a bit cramped sometimes, when he can't focus on his work.

He holds out a hand, a bit of steam hissing from his elbows. "Dr. Emmett Brown."

"Aiden Mori," Aiden responds, shaking Doc's hand. "And I know the feeling. I've run out of books to read... Again." He frowns, then adds, "I'm sorry, but was that steam that came out of your elbow just now?" He's seen a lot of weird stuff in his life, but steam coming out of someone's elbows? That's a new one.

Doc grimaces just slightly and nods. "Yes, it was. I'm partly steam-powered. The world I come from has Faeries, and one of them kidnapped me and altered a good part of my internal structure." He figures that'll serve as a good basic explanation -- he'll give more details if Aiden asks, but otherwise he'll leave it at that.

He glances Aiden up and down. "Are you one of the locals, or are you from 'out of town,' like me?" A brief worried expression crosses his face as he wonders if he just told somebody ignorant of the Chicago "underworld" about being kidnapped by Faeries. Aiden doesn't really give off that vibe, though.
