Gwen is a bit excited, truth be told, to be out of the Conrad's basement. She's nervous, of course, considering she and John are running reconnaissance on a rather dangerous (if poorly organized) organization that has a grudge against Romana. But still, she's helping, and getting information on this organization so they can decide how best to ( Read more... )

"Need you inside, love," he says, with a slight, reassuring smile. He can tell she's nervous, but she's got him on her side - what could go wrong? He holds out a small device, just the right size to fit into the palm of her hand. It's nothing, really, a piece of shiny trash he found in a closet somewhere, but it looks like it does something and she won't know the difference.

"Get as far in as you can and activate this," he says, pointing to a couple of buttons that do precisely nothing. "That'll get you a scan of the building layout, how many people they've got in there, any worthwhile tech they've got running in there... There's a comm there." He indicates another button, and that's the only one that actually does something. It'll help if he can hear what's going on in there. "Anything goes wrong, you call me. I'll be right outside keeping an eye on things."

Gwen takes the device and pockets it, nodding. She's nervous, but she'll do this properly. "How long does it need to scan the whole building?" she asks.

Aka - how long does she need to be in there?

Hart considers, or at least pretends to consider, glancing to the building. "A minute, maybe two. You'll be in an out, no problem. But if you do run into trouble..."

He nods to the gun they picked up for her in the armory before heading out. One thing to say for those angels - they're well-armed, for this century. "You shouldn't hesitate to shoot them. I'll be in soon as I can if that happens, but I'd rather they get shot than you, and they will."

Gwen swallows hard - there's no way she could shoot these people, as much as she doesn't trust them and thinks they're bad news. They think they're doing the right thing. She's not going to shoot them.

But she takes the gun anyway, with a solemn nod, and tucks it in the back of her waistband, under her light jacket.

"Right." She smiles tightly, nervous and excited and so glad she's helping finally. "Wish me luck?"
