Down in the long narrow hall [Locked]

Nick is sitting in the basement of the station, by the morgue very few people know about and the cells even fewer do. He's got a little desk, here, stocked with his own idiosyncratic paperwork - there's no official policy concerning what he does, here, so he's had to make due on his own ( Read more... )

We're very, very sorry, Nick, but you are not going to have a quiet day. No one in this city gets a quiet day this week.

An interruption comes in the form of the First among Firsts walking into the basement like she belongs there. (One of the primary rules of dealing with Romana is that she belongs wherever she damn well wants to be.) Don't ask how she got down here. She has ways, and may have had Robin make a few calls beforehand.

It has been a long few days. She is not happy with the way anything is going lately. But nevertheless, she smiles upon seeing Nick, not unfriendly all things considered. "Hello, Sergeant Angel."

Nick looks up, quickly finishing a signature and standing. Hey, she's his superior officer. The most superior officer. There are rules.

"Ms. Angelos, good afternoon," he says, despite the fact that he's really not sure it's afternoon any more. "I wasn't expecting to see you here. Can I help you?"

And here is the problem with vengeance angels. They're often useful, but every now and then, their calling comes up hard against necessity and... well. "I need to speak to Mr. John Hart. I understand you have him in custody here." Speaking is not precisely what she wants, but that's not really the point.

Nick blinks. Why, exactly, she wants to speak with him is a mystery to him, but... superior officer. It's not his business. There's more going on in the city than he knows about, and she's a lot closer to the Wanderers and their issues than he is, unless they come in to break the law. It's probably some related issue, though he does wish she'd inform him if it was, say, one of his accomplices staging that car bomb yesterday...

"Of course." He scribbles the visit down in the log book, stepping around the desk toward the hall. "This way, ma'am."
