There are people in the world. Many, many people. And they are doing many, many things.

For example, Will Tippin is sitting in the empty library in the wing of the Kashtta that he and Syd are currently occupying, reading a book he ( Read more... )

Roland is not familiar with tai chi, but he thinks it looks interesting. Not that he's watching. Ah, hell when is Roland Deschain not paying attention to what's happening?

It's not that he means to watch people. It's just he's always aware of what's going on around him. Part of being a gunslinger.

He has his guns with him. The whole tai chi thing looks strange to him. In his world, there are people who have guns and there are people who don't. Hand to hand combat has never been very applicable. Not that he didn't learn, yes, but nothing like... that.

It's almost... artistic.

Tay knows he's watching. She doesn't tend to get self-conscious about stuff like this, and today is no exception. She just goes through her forms for a few more minutes until she comes to a natural stopping point, stretches, and glances over at him.

"Enjoy the show?"

Roland smiles, but doesn't exactly answer the question. He's good at beating around the bush.

She reminds him of Susan.

But every girl does.

"What was that, pray tell," he says and takes a step toward her, "what you did there."

"It's Tai Chi. Form of martial art from China, I think." Tay shrugs, and ruffles her wings a bit. "Not usually my style, I tend to go for hard-hitting stuff, but... it's kind of centering and relaxing and fuck if I don't need that right now. Lots of stress going on right now."

She raises an eyebrow at him. "And who the hell says things like 'pray tell' anymore, anyway? What are you, Shakespeare wannabe?"

Buffy stumbles across Tay by accident, really. She'd been looking for... anyone she knows, really, because she's edging toward being bored out of her mind.

She stops abruptly, seeing Tay, and just watches her for a moment. She recognizes what she's doing - after all, she used to do it with Angel. Not that she remembers much of it now. It was only a few months ago, but it seems like... much longer.

Tay finishes quicker than she would normally, 'cause... dude. Buffy. Her friend. Which is a weird experience for her.

She smiles and stretches her arms and wings above her head. "Hey, Bee. Haven't seen you in ages." Also known as a couple hours. But hey, who's counting.

Buffy pauses a moment, giving Tay a vaguely unsettled look at the nickname. It doesn't happen a lot, but every now and then, Tay reminds her so much of Faith, and Buffy doesn't know whether she should be scared of her or for her. "I just saw you earlier today. Remember? We had breakfast?"

Tay rolls her eyes.

"It's called sarcasm. Seriously, did they forget to teach that at prep school?"

She teases because she cares, Buffy. It's like how boys pull your hair and break your glasses to show you they like you.

In moments like these, Farley almost wishes he had his job back. Or at least a job. Period. He's also wishing that someone he knew could be there to see what he's become, if only so he could talk (or brag) about it with someone he knew, which is more than he can say for a lot of the people here.

Surprisingly though, he's still in a pretty good mood, which has made him a bit productive, which is why he's wandering the halls, trying to get a better lay of the land as it were. He'd probably be doing this still, if it wasn't for the woman who reminded him a little of Margo.

Surprise briefly turns to regret, but turns into amusement at the look on her face.

"Someone's certainly in a good mood..."

Sally looks up and smiles at Farley, stretching a little and sitting up. "Just having a good day is all," she says. "How about yourself? Good day? Passable?"

She's feeling friendly and chatty.

"Well, it's been going all right so far", Farley replies nonchalantly. All the people he knows are safe, things haven't gotten to the point where any day when someone isn't trying to kill someone or generally raise hell. A small part of him has to admit that his current company is a bonus, too. From where he stands at the moment, that's pretty damn good.

"Well that is certainly fortuitous." Because sometimes, Sally is a dork who likes to use big words.

She tucks her hair behind her ears. "I'm Sally, by the way. Sally Sparrow."

((OOC: I have too many dead characters to be able to resist an OTG. It's hardest to resist Brando, but he's going to KNOW he's dead so I figure I'll wait on that even though I guess Will will be like wtf is a kid doing here, BUT. alas.))

There is a little boy, technically a ghost (not that the kid realizes it), watching Will. Joshua's behind a table, just kind of poking his head over the top. He's been in this library for a very long time.

Most of the time it's been empty so when someone does come in, he's just lonely enough to watch from a distance. But not quite brave enough to actually ever say anything to them. So he'll just watch. Quietly.

Will doesn't notice the kid at first, but after a little while he does, and smiles at him. "Well, hey there."

He likes kids! And he's pretty non-threatening! Look at that GRIN!

Joshua gives a tiny, "Eep!" and ducks, at first.

Hey, the last non-threatening (at least in his eyes) person he met had him eaten by a werewolf. Not that he remembers, but it leaves his spirit vaguely on edge, nonetheless.

After a second, he pokes his head back up, again, and his loneliness takes over any shyness he may have initially had.

"Hi," he says and even smiles, a little, unsure, but definetly a smile. "What're you reading?"

Will likes not being scary to little kids. "Pride and Prejudice. Which is a totally girly book, but it's the only thing we had lying around, apparently."

God knows why.

"I'm Will," he says.

This is not a place Penny knows, although it feels uncomfortably familiar. Like an old summer home you might have visited in your childhood and was reintroduced to as an adult, only to realize that everything was different to your child's eyes.

She's been nowhere and everywhere for awhile, drifting in stasis, knowing that she died that night and that she's been dead ever since. For awhile, she had no form, but something- hard to say what- drew her out and now she has shape again. She's wandered the halls before and seemed invisible and that was probably just another lonely part of being dead.

The library is a pleasant sanctuary for her wandering spirit and at first she doesn't give much notice to the young man reading, because she assumes he won't notice her.

She's, of course, very wrong.

Will notices her when she wanders in and smiles in a friendly (if slightly absent - he's enjoying the book) fashion. "Hey there."

Don't mind him, Penny. He just, y'know. Sees you.

Penny freezes, and turns to face him. He's not dead. She can tell that much. So how can he see her?

"Oh bloody hell. They sprung for a medium, didn't they?" She almost laughs a little. "You know, I thought they would, given the nature of this place, although I have to admit, you don't look like you're very good at your job. I expect candles during this sort of thing."

Oh Penny. He has no idea what you're talking about probably. Not everyone embraces being dead as easily as you do.

Will blinks a couple of times, and then raises a dubious eyebrow. "Uh... excuse me?"

A medium? Candles? What the hell?
